About the Author

Nancy Goor is the writer of the team. Using humor and a light style, Nancy has created an understandable and encouraging text for both the books and the program. She also developed the more than 320 recipes in the books. These are recipes which the Goors, their family, and guests enjoy all the time. Her recipes, such as Cajun Chicken, Chili Non Carne, and Onion Flat Bread, prove resoundingly that low-fat cooking can be delicious, healthy, and can keep you lean forever. Nancy Goor received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.F.A. from Boston University.

Dr. Goor, an expert on diet, cholesterol, and heart disease, served the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), National Institutes of Health, as the National Coordinator of the Coronary Primary Prevention Trial, the landmark study that proved that lowering cholesterol reduces the incidence of heart attack. He subsequently became the first coordinator of the National Cholesterol Education Program in the Office of the Director of the NHLBI. His personal as well as professional involvement with cholesterol led him and his wife Nancy to write the best-selling book Eater's Choice. DIETS DON'T WORK! I have been searching for some way to change my way of thinking about food. I woke up every day planning where and what I would eat. Food was my life. Now I really think about food differently! I actually see it as the FUEL needed to maintain my body. I always thought I ate "healthy". I loved meats, potatoes, veggies. Never ate desserts and couldn't figure out why I was fat. It never dawned on me that what I was putting on these foods mattered a lot!! I have learned to eat everything I did before, but in a healthier way. Some days I can barely get down all the food that is required! All I did was begin to become aware of FAT CALORIES. This is a life change plan. Thanks for changing my life.

I lost 84 pounds in 13 months using this diet along with exercise. I have kept it off for more than 4 years without feeling deprived. Food is no longer the constant focus of my life but something I use to fuel my body. It's great advice and uses real food not bars and powders!
