I bought this book because we have several other Karen Katz (lift the flap) books, which we love, and I like the idea of the touch & feel. I was very disappointed however to find that there are only two different textures used throughout the book, not counting the cover. There's a scratchy material used 4 times and a silky/satin blend used twice (just using different colors). There's a towel illustration that could have easily been terry cloth and a blanket at the end that could have used any soft, cuddly material. I will definitely be returning this book. I gave it two stars because as with all Karen Katz books the illustrations are adorable, and it uses rhyming verse, which I like.

I have seen Karen Katz books, but never actually bought one till I bought Twinkle Toes. I really like Karen Katz's illustrations of babies/toddlers, I like how they are so round and cuddly looking. I also like that she includes babies of all different colours, races, different hair colours etc. She is great!
This is a newer book of her's, and it is a touch and feel book. On the cover the baby has real pink tulle to feel. Inside the book, there are various babies of toddler age dancing and dressed up in various types of outfits which are made of some glittery and some smoother and shiny fabric for your little one to touch. They are all vibrant colours.
This was not available in my library, perhaps because it is newer, but it is also likely that my library does not stock "touch-and-feel" books since these books I am sure would wear out with all the times they would be lent out. I am sure this is the case in other librairies too. So any "touch and feel" book may be a good investment for your baby, and Twinkle Toes definitely is!
My daughter is 15 months old and I have a 3 year old son, and we have a lot of books which are gender neutral and these days we may even look at books which may have more "boy appeal", so it is nice to get something special for your little girl if you have one, not that I mind my son also enjoying this with us, which he does! But it is definitely "pretty" and "girly".
It is good for a newborn baby up to a Preschool age(3-4 year old) child but I think it is really targeted toward toddlers ( 1 to 2 year olds).
Amazon's service was also great, a quality product and delivered on time!

Simple and cute book. Not impressed with the textures. Only 2 actual textures are there; smooth or rough. Should have been a completely different one for each page. There are many textures out there and I just feel that this does not fulfill that. Child is not interested in the touch part as they are not interesting.

This book is terrible. I can't find one nice thing to say about it. It says it's a touch and feel, but it only uses two different textures throughout the book (one used 4x; the other used 2x). There is no plot and the "story" doesn't flow, bouncing from one place to another, and the rhyming is awful.

The pictures and story in this book was cute, but it fails in a big way as a touch and feel book. There are only two different textures in the book and each is repeated several times. This completely defeats the purpose of a touch and feel book.

3.5 stars...we love Karen Katz's books, so we thought to add this to our baby's collection when she started showing interest in touch and feel books. While she does like this (at ~9 months), she quickly loses interest after the first few pages. I hypothesize that it's because the tulle on the cover is the most interesting "feel" piece, and a few of the other "feel" pieces inside are too similar.

My almost 2-year-old daughter got this book as a present, and *adores* it. The different textures hold her attention a bit longer than other books, so I actually have enough time to read the pages to her. She is also obsessed with shoes, and likes seeing all the different shoes that the girl wears.

I like it because I think it does a good job of being girly and fun without being bratty or too "princessy." I am definitely going to look for more books by Karen Katz.

I love these books for my kids! The price makes them great for Easter baskets too! The textures are rather repetitive in this book but my 15 month old doesn't seem to mind. My 3 year old wasn't impressed though since it's essentially the same texture over and over.
