I've ordered quite a few of the coloring books for pencils, and this one is the best! Detailed, beautiful pictures. I don't agree with the other reviewer saying it was too pretty to use. The pictures, after being colored, are gorgeous, and to be able to flip from page to page and see the different styles and colors on the models, is really enjoyable! You do have to be careful not to use too much pressure on the pencils as it will show through on the flip side, but if you just do a soft coloring, there's no problem at all.

I've been over the moon with fashion paper dolls since I was a kid. Discovering Dover Pictorial Archives coloring books was like Christmas morning for me!

Godey's Fashions Coloring Book is a dream you can make come true with gel pens, crayons, colored pencils -- whatever suits your mood and interpretation of the project.

Frame it or cut it out and incorporate the image into another crafts project! There's lots of fun here!

Ming-Ju Sun just can't be beat when it comes to fashion coloring books for adult enthusiasts, terrific artistic renderings with not too much and not too little detailing...everything is just right. What I love about Ming-Ju Sun's designs is nothing is inked in already, like it is with other artists designs (namely Tom Tierney).

I'm an adult coloring fanatic and this one is my fav regarding fashions of yesteryear. You won't find any backgrounds in these designs, it's all about the dresses, which is a nice change of pace.

This book is printed on quality white paper, great for pencils. The designs are printed back to back and marker will bleed through.

Relax with it and have fun! It's what they're all about :)

I wanted to like this book, but it is so disappointing that I am going to give it away. The pictures are only about 2/3 to 3/4 of the usable portion of the page (leaving the typical white space around the borders that are lost to normal margins as additional lost space). There are descriptions taking up far two much of the page for a book whose primary purpose is billed as a coloring book. This is not supposed to be a pen and ink historic fashion guide, but it appears to be better suited for that purpose than coloring. The actual pictures of women have such small open spaces that they are not worth using my good art pencils to try to cover the large amount of detailed black ink. They are too detailed to color with crayons. Perhaps colored gel pens could be used, but they would likely bleed through the paper.

If I had purchased this locally in a sealed package that hid the uselessness of the drawings for coloring, I would have immediately returned this book upon seeing the drawings. The author should drop the writing on the pages and maybe do another edition with the drawings blown up to allow actual coloring.

What a lovely book! The range of dresses depicted spans several years, the images are beautifully drawn and highly detailed, and the descriptions that accompany the illustrations are quite informative. I actually purchased this thinking that I would color the images -- but the book is just much too pretty to use!

I have so much fun, sitting down and coloring with my granddaughter and she consistently chooses from this coloring book for her picture to color for the day. I can't resist, either. This is my favorite book. I think every young lady loves the idea of a colorful, billowy dress that swishes when you walk. What can I say!

I am new to adult coloring. I have really taken to mandalas and patterns but also ordered this book because I love fashion and it looked interesting. The illustrations are very detailed and beautifully drawn. I don't know much about 1800s fashions so I have Googled images of the women's fashions from the decades I have done so far to get a somewhat accurate account of color schemes. I am enjoying giving the fashions in this book color and style. Pages are printed back to back so colored pencils are probably the best to use. Markers may leak through. I have used Prang colored pencils on my pages.
