I was so disappointed to receive a 1978 copy of "Mother Mother I Want Another" book which has a different illustrator. I thought I was receiving the 2007 book as pictured and described in the description. I had a 2007 copy that I used for a group story time, but gave it away to a new mother because of the beautiful illustrations. Since the book is very interactive for children participation, I thought I'd buy "Another" to have on hand. The text is the same, but harder to read since small. Also, the smaller pictures in the older version are too difficult for multiple children to see like the newer book; and is only duable for one child with good eyesight who is sitting on your lap. So the book is not useable for my purposes.

This was one of my favorite books as a child! A few years back I wanted to purchase a copy, but I guess the old edition went out of print. I could only find a few used copies where the seller was asking way too much money (e.g. $50). I'm happy they issued a new edition. The story is exactly the same as the original, is just new illustrations. The new illustrations are cute, I'm just nostalgic for the originals. I wish I could get a copy with the original illustrations. All in all, it makes me happy that I was able to add this book to my son's library.

I desperately wanted the "old" copy of this book. I took a chance and bought it from a second party seller on Amazon and was pleasantly surprised to find the old copy that had been a NYC public library copy .
This story is all that's good in the world.

As the bedtime ritual comes to a close, Mrs. Mouse gives her son a bedtime kiss. Everything has gone smoothly thus far, until Mrs. Mouse turns to leave the room. Baby mouse then begins to cry: "I want another, Mother!" Desperate to appease baby mouse's cries, Mrs. Mouse runs to fetch Mrs. Duck who attempts to calm baby mouse with a very ducky lullaby. When this doesn't work, they call on Mrs. Frog. After five mothers fail at consoling him, baby finally explains: "No more mothers! . . . I want another KISS!" Each mother kisses baby mouse goodbye. Then he is tucked cozy into bed and finally receives ANOTHER kiss from his mother.

Text Review: What a cleverly sweet twist! There is never a boring page. Each mother's lullaby is a nice addition, interspersing well-written rhyme while giving our young readers insight into each animal's characteristics. The ending creates every feeling that a great bedtime picture book should.

Illustration Review: I give it 5+ stars.

My 2 year old loves this book. The artwork is wonderful, the animals are so beautifully drawn and dressed and the story is a delight! It's repititious, which is important for young readers and the story is so endearing. It gives you the "warm fuzzies" every time you read it.

In this book, mother mouse is getting her son off to bed and kisses him goodnight. He tells her he wants another, mother and she takes that to mean he wants another mom. What he really wants is another kiss but she scurries off to find another mother for him. Mother mouse finds a mother duck, a mother frog, a mother pig, and a mother donkey and all of them kiss little mouse but poor baby mouse doesn't want another mother! He is finally able to tell his mother that all he wants is another kiss! So she gives him two and tucks him into bed.

I loved this book and so did my 2 year old. The pictures are so detailed and darling. This is one to keep on your list of must-haves.

When my son was young, this was his favorite book. The first time I read it to him, he was very amused that Mouse's mother thought he wanted another mother rather than another kiss. Problem was, the pictures in that early edition were not very good. With this new release and new illustrations, this book is great in every way. I am a teacher and read it to my kindergarten kids. It would also work well for a little higher grade when studying commas. The comma is what gives the sentence it's correct meaning.

This was my favorite book as a child. My mom and I have been trying to find this book for nearly 10 years now. I found it! This is truely the most memorable children's book I ever had. It is the best book you can read to your child!! It is definitely up there in the ranks of Runaway Bunny and Love you Forever!!
