There is an incredible amount of information in this book, which is not surprising considering Dr. Aufderheide's credentials and extraordinary amount of research. If you are interested in mummies or paleopathology, this is undoubtedly THE book to have.

Got this for a class. It's definitely a scholarly tome with technical language, not a sit-down-and-read-for-hours-for-fun book, but it covers a wide range of mummies and every related issue.

Over 500 pages of fascinating information on all forms of mummification, from different eras and from ancient cultures around the world. It far exceeded my expectations and it a perfect addition to my library as I study anthropology & archeology. I bought the book for data and references to use in a term paper, but I have no doubt that I'll get a lot of use out of this volume. My archaeology professor was impressed with it, and if it gets his approval, I know I've made an excellent choice. That, and I practically had to wrestle it back from him :) Highly recommended for the serious archaeology and/or anthropology student, or for those who simply find mummies as fascinating as I do.
