Fun Projects, but cheap materials

I bought this book for my 8 year old step daughter, remembering how much fun I had making lanyards at her age. The book is fine and has great instructions, but the actual lanyard that comes with thebook was pretty cheap and snapped several times when pulling the knots tight. Also it the lace is rounded, not flat like the lace I remember. The round tubing was more difficult to work with. I would suggest buying this product, but definately don't bother getting the extra scoubidou stuff from Klutz, go to Micheals and buy your own lanyad lace that will b echeaper and much better quality for the rest of your projects.

i loved the scoubidou kit, most of the instructions were very easy and fun, my friend actually had this kit and brought it to summer camp so i made one and it looked so cool! If you want flat lace or lanyard this is not the book for you because the book came with round lace. The round lace is good for all the projects in the book, if you try it with flat lace it doesn't work! Once again or should I say the 6th or 7th time klutz has not disapointed me

Love Klutz!

My grandchildren and I love this book. We have never been disappointed in any of the Klutz items. They are very well written and they come with items to get you started (or should I say hooked). We had so much fun making the items in this book. It gives you lots of ideas and once we learned how to make the items in the book we started to come up with our own patterns and items! Love Klutz!

kind of hard to follow instructions...

The book did not give the greatest instructions, in my opinion. The book says "incredibly clear instructions". I don't think so. One part that I did like were the pictures, and how I could tell what I was supposed to be doing by that.

Good fun

This book and activity kit comes with everything you need to complete 14 amazing projects. But to be honest it is just a jumping off point. Once you have learned the basics you can buy your own supplies and you and your children will be doing fun crafts and activities for years to come.

What you get:

Beads: small beads, big beads, toggle beads and pony beads
Scoubidou
Lanyard clips
Key Rings
Instruction book with built in ruler

The book comes out of the supplies case and can be kept separately while working on the projects, and then stored once those included are completed.

The sections in the book are:

The book also has a history of Scoubidou, hollow tube-like plastic cord, to a song and musician in the late 1950's. It is very different from gymp (gimp) which is a flat cord. It is a great kit and sure to be a favorite. It will definitely provide hours of fun.

Directions are hard

Scoubidou is fun overall, but the directions are sometimes confusing. There are a lot of pretty things to make, but I can't make them due to unclear directions. They come with 6 rolls of scoubidou, 2 glow-in-the-dark, 2 pearly, and 2 glittery.They also come with pony beads and clips, but the plastic bag they come in isn't very durable and all my beads spilled out. I ended up having to staple the bag together.

This books was great but not what I expected. I expected it to show how to make a lanyard, and expected lanyard string. It came with round, not flat string making it hard to make the lanyards. But you can still make them, and the book includes some very fun and creative projects. My favorite was the pencil leash.So although it failed to include the lanyards it was no disappointment, and the supplies like the string, beads, split rings, and lanyard clips were in a little box with the book so its very convenient to have them with the book. So if your looking for some rainy day activities, or just some arts and crafts definitely get this.

This did not have the one, basic pattern I wanted, so was of no use to me. Only buy if you want a book with very similar remedial patterns.
