I loved this book so much! I'm a big fan of sibling books and this worked out perfectly for me because I recently had another baby so my older daughter, who is 4, just became a big sister. The timing was perfect! I read this to her one time, and she has been in love with it ever since. She tries to read it herself to her baby sister, multiple times a day, and always smiles and plays with the baby afterwards. I love that it rhymes, it's easy to understand and grasp, and the illustrations are cute. Definitely a great book if you have a child who is about to become a big sister!

We gave this to our 22 month old daughter when her baby sister was born; she loves seeing the children in the book interacting the way she does with her own sister; after reading each page she will chime in "Like I do!!!"
Its a good reminder to her that she is a big girl - not the baby anymore, and that there are many ways she can help and love on her little sister (getting clean diapers & throwing dirty ones in the bin, tickling the baby, helping wash the baby, singing to the baby, etc). I especially love the page about being quiet when the baby sleeps!
We own several Caroline Jayne Church books - I love the cute illustrations and the short, simple stories...but this one has become one of my daughter's favorites because it's so relatable for her!
I will be purchasing this for anyone I know whose toddler aged daughter becomes a "big sister".

Format: Kindle Edition
‘I Am a Big Sister’ written and illustrated by Caroline Jayne Church is newest book for children by author who worked on numerous great titles, either alone or together with other writers such as Bernadette Rossetti Shustak and Marion Dane Bauer.

This time a theme of her book is what happens when a new baby becomes part of family and some other child, still very young, becomes big sister or brother. On each book spread different situations are pictured in which we can observe how this little girl helps parents and proudly takes care of his little brother, by throwing dirty diapers, feeding him with a bottle or riding in strollers.

The lesson this picture book brought is clear - to help children not to feel less loved when you have a new baby in the house, let them feel proud being big brothers or sisters, give them chance to help you and include them into baby education and upbringing from the earliest days. In this way, a bit older but still young children, that still need the same or even more of your love, will not feel unnecessary or forgotten, but as an important part of a family that cares about its smallest member.

Caroline Jayne Church put on every page one to two short sentences and used illustrations with a solid background color, large motifs, without too many details, which will be helpful in keeping attention and facilitate the reading of the youngest readers.

Overall, Caroline Jayne Church’s ‘I Am a Big Sister’ is nice story that can be both recommended for its theme and artwork, bringing great advice on how to behave and in what direction influence when a new baby is born, and you have a second child, just a little bit older. Therefore it would be justified to say that this is equally interesting topic for young readers and their parents, providing great basis for discussion about younger sister or brother.

This is such an adorable book that our daughter loves. She was already excited to have a baby sister but we feel like this book helped her feel pride in helping out and being patient with our new baby.

For the first week whenever we would ask her to help our daughter would run out and grab the book, find the page with the activity (like throwing away diapers) and tell us she wanted to "find it in the instructions" to make sure she was doing it correctly. Precious!

We purchased this book shortly before the birth of our second child as a gift from the baby to his big sister. We already had two other books by Caroline Jayne Church: "I love you through and through" and "How do I love you." and house hold favorites.
Our daughter (age 2 1/2) was thrilled to get this when she visited in the hospital. We read it to her once through there and then she sat down and "read" it out loud by herself. As the pictures are very bold and clear it makes the story easy to follow even for a pre-reader.
Now five months later she still loves this book and is eager to lend a hand to care for her little brother proudly proclaiming: "I'm a big helper!" (Yes we also watched the baby Margaret episodes of Daniel Tiger to get her ready for baby.) The last few pages show the baby growing into a cute little boy/toddler and playing together with his big sister.
I would recommend this for any big-sister-to-be as, unlike other big sister stories, the pictures are beautiful.

Love this book. So does our 20 month old. The illustrations are cute, and it goes through a typical day full of things with a new baby; changing a diaper, giving a bath, playing quietly while baby sleeps, etc. It encourages the big sister to be involved and helpful. It also stresses that you will always be a big sister now. Very cute.
