Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-4-- Artie Jensen, a nine-year-old with a wild imagination , is off for a visit with Grandpa Noonie. Artie and his alter ego, Dino Boy, can't wait for a weekend of baseball, but before long, strange things start to happen at the grandfather's house. Artie encounters Ghost Dog, an invisible pug that only he can see and hear. At first the animal gets the boy in trouble, but he soon proves to be invaluable. The twosome stumble into adventure when they solve the mystery of a stolen rookie baseball card. Leroe has created entertaining, believable characters. Accompanied by funny black-and-white drawings, the story is full of humorous scenes that will delight readers with its slapstick style while appealing to mystery buffs as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ghost Dog Review, March 13, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ghost Dog (Paperback)

Have you ever wanted a dog so much that you would even like to have a ghost as your dog? Then this is a book for you. It is a fun and easy book to read. This is a book about a girl named Kim that wants a dog more than anything in the world. She is obsessed with dogs! But her parents disagree with her. They think dogs are filthy animals. But it gets better. Kim moves into a new house that makes creepy noises at night. So one night when Kim is sleeping in bed, SUDDENLY she hears a noise and wakes up. Then she opens the window in her room and sees a shadow in the shape of a dog. She looks a little closer and sees it's a ghost. So as time goes on Kim is the only one who can see the dog. They also become the best of friends. A couple of chapters later ghost dog is not needed so Kim slowly watches the ghost dog fade away into the shadows. Will Kim ever get a true dog of her own? You'll have to read the book to find out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Book Review of Ghost Dog, January 23, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ghost Dog (Paperback)
Do you like dogs? Have you ever thought in your wildest dreams about a Ghost dog? If this sounds interesting you have to read the book Ghost Dog. Kim Martin meets a ghost dog in her new house. Most people that like to read easy chapter books would enjoy this book.
Ghost Dog is a story about the friendship between Kim and Rex, the ghost dog. Kim always wanted a dog, but her parents would not let her have one. In this book Kim finds a ghost dog living in her new house. Kim and Rex learn to trust each other and become friends. Rex is a secret from Kim's parents throughout the whole story.
The main character is Kim Martin who is a young girl. She lives with her parents Mr. And Mrs. Martin. There are two dog characters in the book. Rex is the older more responsible dog and Bobby is a silly puppy. You can't resist the loveable characters in the book.
The Martin's new house is the setting for Ghost Dog. The Martin family move from the city to a small town. The new house is haunted by Rex, the ghost dog. Mrs. Martin is always cleaning the house to get rid of the dog smell. The book gives good details so I can picture Kim's house.
I think dog lovers would like Ghost Dog the book. This book shows the great friendship between a girl and her dog. It also tells that a dog can be more than a friend, because a dog can protect you. All ages would like this book, because it is fun and you can use your imagination.

I liked this book because of the way that Ghost Dog helped his friend to find his card that the bad man took by telling Arttie that he was a reporter and Ghost Dog came to help it was great!
