Massachusetts Mom and daughter team publish children's book, January 26, 2010
This review is from: Gypsy Jewels (Paperback)
NORTHBORO, MA - January 26, 2010 - Local authors, Nicole Reineke and Roseanne Ouellette, of Massachusetts, announce the release and immediate availability of their first collaboration on a fiction series geared for 8-13 year olds, Gypsy Jewels. Gypsy Jewels brings the readers on a family-friendly adventure through local New England history, and explores the importance of mulit-generational relationships. Nonnie and Pepere enlist the help of their grandchildren, Sarah, age 12, and David, age 8, in their quest to return what they believe to be stolen artifacts. Twists and turns abound as the grandchildren learn about family secrets and gypsy powers. Traveling through time portals, they meet unexpected trouble.
"I am a mother of two and aunt to four girls aged 8-13. My goal in writing Gypsy Jewels was to spark their thirst for history and reading, to help them love it as much as I do. Local history comes alive in a way that captures their imaginations, making them feel like they are living the adventure, and leaves them wanting to read more," said Nicole Reineke. "The characters are positive role models and easy to identify with."
"Gypsy Jewels is a great adventure in history, one of my passions, but it also explores the wonderful, loving relationship between grandparents and their growing grandchildren," commented Roseanne Ouellette, grandmother of five. "It is so important for kids to learn from, and be loved by, older generations. Grandparents and foster-grandparents can provide lessons and unconditional love that can make a big difference in a child's life."
Nicole and Roseanne are currently working on the second book in the series, which brings this dynamic family right into the middle of historical Worcester, Massachusetts, in the mid-1800s.
A free copy of Gypsy Jewels, ISBN-13: 978-0615341132, will be donated to local Massachusetts and Rhode Island libraries upon request. Visit http://www.reinekeassoc.com to request a free copy for your institution.
Nicole and Roseanne are available for lecturers and/or book signings for charities, school PTAs, and local businesses and organizations.
