I've been an English professor at a state institution in the Midwest for almost 30 years. Trimmer is one of the best composition textbook writers. This little booklet, you could almost call it a pamphlet, is super for MLA stuff...quick, straight forward, user-friendly. In the week I've had it, I've used it a couple times to update PowerPoint presentations in citation lectures, and it's great.

But the list price and Amazon's price is still highway robbery. To ask a college student to pay nearly [...] bucks for 39 pages of reference material is ridiculous. With the proliferation of online sources for such material, the prices are only going to go up. When will publishers learn that supply and demand is a good way to ensure going out of business?

It's why I continue to ask my students to use Purdue University's Online Writing Lab website--it's free, updated weekly and offers as much detailing as this book.

So, despite the superior work Trimmer's done once again, I won't be asking my students to buy the pamphlet.

Way overpriced for what you get -- this is more of a booklet or pamphlet than a book. The instructions & samples are insufficient, especially as regards web documentation.

The book shows how to take good notes, summarizing, incorporating quotations, paragraph, and the bigi avoiding plagiarism. Great book!

Good book, for what I bought it for of course. I was attended Governor's School for the Arts and for some strange reason, they requested this book ;). It came in the mail pretty fast, the colors are a bit more brilliant than in the picture. It's not a sturdy thing, pretty flimsy, covers about 3X that of a magazine and the binding is just staples. Holds up, but wouldn't be too rough on it.

I was shocked that I spent $20+ on this book. Its worth maybe 50 cents. Its thinner than the average size magazine. Not worth the money when you can find the same information online.
