Professor Greenberg's well written book describes five men involved in the Weimar Republic, the reasons for its failure, their work in America and Germany, and influence on post-war Germany. It will fascinate those interested in the period.

Interesting, comprehensive, original and expresses clearly a unique path through which intellectuals have walked during the most difficult and crual era in the last century.
