This book has important information....that we should not live in fear of our food. I agree with another reviewer who stated that the book could have used a good editor....but that does not take away from the facts that are presented.

I was fortunate enough to read a couple advanced sections that the author put out and I'm looking forward to finishing the book. From what I've read so far it is very well written and well researched. The internet is filled with misinformation about food and medicine, so it is nice to see a reasonable approach taken to these important topics.

I was fortunate enough to see an advance copy of this excellent book. I have been aware of the antics of "Food Babe" (what a ridiculous egotistical name) for about two years now and, as an agricultural scientist, everything she utters and writes makes my skin crawl. I'm sorry, but she is a total illiterate when it comes to her knowledge of agriculture, food production and food science, not to mention her lack of knowledge of medicine. How she has the audacity to claim to be a leader in the food and eating arena is beyond me.
The Fear Babe: Shattering Vani Hari's Glass House does a great job of debunking all her stupid and incorrect claims, and helps provide the science to enable you to understand the truth. The authors have clearly put a huge amount of work into this book and deserve a lot of credit for taking on this pseudoscientist (who is a computer scientist). People need to start believing in science and scientists, and not ignoramuses like Food Babe and Hollywood celebrities.

If you are not aware, there is a woman with a Computer Science education who runs a blog full-time... and she claims to be an expert on nutrition and food chemistry. Her name is Vani Hari, and she chose the self-deprecating title of "Food Babe." She engages in food terrorism: she lies and deceives to cause fear in others so companies will needlessly alter their products and so people will buy products sold on her web site.

This book cuts through the lies and deceit, showing the truth. Vani refuses to debate others, cannot acknowledge her own lies and fundamental lack of knowledge on science. It falls on third parties to stand up and speak out because Vani simply refuses to put herself in any position to confront her critics. This book tells the truth, deconstructing Vani's claims with a healthy dose of logic and science. The authors are very humble and fair: they admit that they too can be wrong, and accept that fact. After all, they say, that is the scientific method: one must accept that one is fallible, can make mistakes, and is biased. Science is about removing the human bias and relentlessly seeking facts.

When Bill Nye and Ken Ham debated, they were asked "what would make you change your mind?" The paraphrased answers were Bill: evidence; Ken: nothing. Those of us who are open to being wrong and improving our view of the world are stronger than those who stick to the lie no matter what: this is Vani's primary shortcoming. She keeps lying even in the face of mounting evidence that she is wrong: her lies are profitable. The fact that she values money more than truth hurts her credibility.

Even if you are not familiar with Vani, this book is a good read.

This is a great book for anybody who is concerned about the food we eat. As a scientist, I see so many findings distorted by the news media. This distortion appears to be done to instill fear and make headlines. Fear does sell, and the Food Babe has capitalized on spreading fears about food. The authors do a great job dissecting many of the Food Babe's claims showing how the science does not support the fear Vani Hari is trying to sell.

.....coffee enemas, juice cleanses, colloidal silver, and 50 million ways to "detoxify" your body, thank heaven for Kavin! Rather than preying on our fears that we are bad parents for feeding our kids (and ourselves) sugar, "chemkillz", GMOs, and the glutens, Kavin's book lays out the actual science behind the state of our food. Sure, it's a good idea to be aware of what you're eating. But what good is that if you don't understand what GMO actually means, or why most of us should be unconcerned with gluten content and whether or not something was grown "organically"? Actually I take that back. I am concerned about organic food. That stuff can go pound sand.

Anyway, since most of us are not dietitians or food scientists, a safe bet is to go with the scientific consensus. As the saying goes "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". And that's precisely why frauds like Vani Hari fail: they make outrageous claims without a lick of credible evidence. So if you like stuff like logic, data, reasonable conclusions, and the ability to enjoy your food, give this book a try! It might even cure your gluten-belly! #Senapath

I was thrilled when I learned this book would be coming out, and bought it almost immediately. This book is a refreshing evidence-based answer to the overwhelming amount of pseudo-scientific nonsense currently found on the internet. It will be easy to read and comprehend for lay persons, many of whom fall for pseudo-scientific con men and snake oil salespeople. I have several people wanting to borrow it once I'm finished. If you've ever wondered about the GMO/anti GMO argument, but have never been able to read or understand the scientific journals this book will present the science in terms you can understand.
