Book 3 in this series finds yoga teacher Kate Davidson teaching doga (yoga for dogs) at a fundraiser for a local animal shelter. An animal rights protest at the fundraiser leads to a suspicious fire and a drowning. The police arrest Dharma, a woman claiming to be Kate’s estranged mother, and charge her with murder. Kate and Dharma’s relationship is fraught with complications, but Kate just can’t stand to see her suffer, so injects herself into the investigation.

These books just keep getting better and better for me. I really like Kate. Sure she’s a yoga teacher who’s supposed to be all about peace, love, and understanding, but she frequently falls short of the mark. She has a temper, she leaps to conclusions, she keeps secrets, she has a difficult relationship with her mother ... she is, in short, very human, and totally relatable. Plus, her devotion to Bella, her German Shepherd with digestive and behavioral problems, is touching.

For me, this latest is the best in the series. I was able to lose myself in the story and feel like I was right there in Seattle with Kate and Bella. I found myself thinking about what was happening when I wasn’t reading. I like how Kate confronts problems, even when she’d rather sweep them under the rug, and I like that she loses her temper, but takes responsibility for it. And I very much enjoy the relationship between Kate and her very pregnant BFF. It rings true for me. The details of Bella’s illness and the day-to-day operations of Kate’s yoga practice/business are woven seamlessly into the plot, making the story and the characters seem real.

As with most series, I find these are better read in order, because each makes reference to previous books.

What does yoga, a dead body, and a long lost mom have in common? A unique mystery that involves yoga instructor, Kate Davidson, her dog Bella, her boyfriend Michael and her dependable friend Rene. Kate goes to dogma fundraiser for fun but ends up stumbling across dead body. The suspect turns out to be her long lost mom. Kate decides to help and the mystery deepens. I am new to Downward Dog series and I am hooked. I would like to learn more about Kate by reading the first two mysteries in the series. Grab this book for a fun read!

Tracy Weber does it again. I was disappointed when Karma’s A Killer ended. I wanted the story to keep going. Every time I read one of Tracy Weber’s books I learn something new! It was intriguing and interesting to learn about birds and their behavior as well as dive deeper in yoga practices and animal behavior.

I enjoyed that Kate’s (the main character) friend, Rene, was featured more in this book. I love how they play off each other. My heart stopped when Kate’s car, with Bella (her dog) was broken into. This was an excellent third book in the Downward Dog Mystery Series. The only problem is now I have to wait for the next book to be published!!

Karma's a Killer (A Downward Dog Mystery) by Tracy Weber is the third book in this cozy dog yoga mystery series. I think it is Tracy's best book so far and I am already looking forward to the next books in the series. There are several references to the previous books in the series so even if you haven't read books 1 and 2, you'll understand what's happening in this one, but I'd still read the series in order. It's evident that Tracy knows about yoga and dogs and her characters and story line are totally believable.

This time Kate and Michael are doing a fund raiser for a no kill shelter. When the CEO of that shelter is murdered, all fingers point to the mother Kate never knew was still alive and it’s up to her to prove her long lost mother didn’t do it.
If you like family, dogs, especially German Shepards, you will love this series.
I hope there will be more to come in the series.

An entertaining book - sometimes funny, sometimes romantic, at other times sad, this book has just the right touch of suspense for my liking to make this cozy mystery a great read! The novel is the third book featuring the adventures of Seattle yoga teacher Kate Davidson, but it was the first that I had read in the "Downward Dog Mysteries". Although I usually try to start at the beginning of a series, the author Tracy Weber has done such a good job of explaining the characters & their past history that I did not feel that I had missed anything vital to enjoying this book. That does not mean that I won't go back & read the first two books; I look forward to adding them to my "to read pile"! With an eclectic cast of characters, both human & animal, and a glimpse into the murky, disturbing & sometimes dangerous world of animal activism this book is an adventure of a read that is hard to put down. I loved the exploration of Kate's past and the believable relationships with her boyfriend and best friend. Anyone who enjoys yoga, animals but especially dogs, humour, mystery or Seattle will find this book an appealing read. My only caveat to the book is the glimpse into animal activism - I did find the subject & some of the tactics employed by the characters in the book very disturbing. That said, it does not preclude me from recommending this book to mystery readers. I received this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
