Considering the credentials of the two authors, I was greatly surprised at how nonacademic this book turned out to be.

I found very little insight into the subject and found the text to be highly repetitious. A one or two page magazine article could have served the same purpose for me.

Softcover, 196 Pages, 9" x 6". 20 (not very interesting) b/w illustrations, bibliography. Published by Infinity Publishing, 2012.

If you are going to write a book on collecting tribal art without illustrating the striking, visceral and important tribal art you are referring to, the text had better be really interesting and informative, but.....unfortunately.....it's not. It reads like a long dissertation on the vagaries and capriciousness of collectors, which is scarcely earth-shattering news. There are chapters on the History Of Collecting Tribal Art, Collectors and Their Collections, and The Business Side Of Tribal Art. IMHO, too darn dry without the art itself to put the whole thing into context.
