The Workman Publishing annual cat calendar is the most feline-loving calendar I have ever encountered. They never make fun of cats as so many other calendars do. They don't treat cats as anti-social beasties that everyone can make cheap jokes about.

Instead they treat cats as they are. A complicated, intelligent - and yes, social - fellow mammal. Not human, but certainly having emotions and concerns that we humans share in common with them. And also it's about just everyday cat concerns, such as "Do I want to stay in or got out?"

The daily captions are a great complement to the beautiful cat photos.

Two of my favorites:

- A young lithe kitty reaches high off the ground to catch a ball. The caption: "The right fielder reaches for the fly!!!. And... the Black Persian is,,,, OUT!

- A book is opened halfway on a library shelf. A kitten has taken a catnap atop of it. The caption: "A young literatus falls asleep mid-read."

This is respectful of our kitties, and it's wonderfully literate.

This is a gorgeous calendar. I love it so much I've ordered it the last 5-6 years. Each day (except Saturday & Sunday are combined) is a portrait of a new cat or cats (though there are some casual action shots too). The photos are professional and printed on high quality paper. While it is bigger than the page-a-day calendars, you're getting larger pictures that look so much better. There are no dark photos that could benefit from a flash. The print quality makes each page look like a photograph (you could even frame them or make a collage they are so good).

If you're a cat lover and prefer to be able to see your kitties, this is for you.

There is a reason that this calendar has earned so many 5-star reviews! The photography (both black-and-white and color) is exquisite, the captions both informative and entertaining, and the expressions on the cat's faces...well, those speak for themselves! In other words, the 2014 Gallery Calendar is the cat's meow!

Although it is difficult... if not impossible... to choose a favorite, just consider the following as an example: "If stretching were wealth, the cat would be rich." (African proverb) The picture that accompanies this is so cute that you will not want to turn the page, but when you do, you will find that the next one is equally good or better! Every day is a wonderful surprise.

You will learn fun facts about your favorite breeds, cat care tips, and if you would like to increase your vocabulary, use this calendar to discover the meaning of the word 'vellus." Hint: it has something to do with a Sphinx! The captions also may be just one word, for example; "Gotcha!" Now, after reading that, you have to buy the calendar, right? Check it out to see if the actual photo matches the picture in your mind!

Check out all the close-ups too....an ear, a paw, the tip of a kitten's tongue.

With so many great fatures, it is possible to go on and on, but it is time to feed my own cat. By the way, she likes this calendar, too, especially if the day's photo features a calico like her! So to sum up, if you love cats, you will love the Cat Gallery Calendar! Highly recommended!

Workman does a fantastic job and I buy one every year. The stand is heavy plastic and easy to assemble. The photos are top quality and the paper they are printed on too. The weekends are all on one and you have to turn it over at mid-year but still worth the money.

This is by far the best cat calendar I've seen, and this is my 4th one. Each day there is a new professional-quality photo of a cat (no user-submitted poor quality photos). The captions inform you about the breed or cat behavior, provide a cat-related quote, or comment on what the cat in the photo might be thinking. The text matches the photo in quality. This calendar was obviously put together by serious cat lovers, as there is no filler content and many of the entries just make your heart melt. The plastic case is well-constructed and the photos are printed on fairly heavy glossy paper. Since the photos are not tear-off you can use them for crafts and cards when the year is done. This is calendar perfection. I look forward to coming to work each day and seeing the next cat!

I am so surprised at the high quality of this calendar; the paper stock is thick and glossy. Each day's picture is better than the last. It comes with its own holder and you place the heavy cards in it. When you are in six months, you turn the cards around and do the second half of the year. I love this calendar! Beautiful cats in really intriguing photos, not just standard 'cat' photos. This is a work of art, not just a calendar.
Caveat: it is not for writing daily notes on; it's for viewing.
