When I was young I carried two differnt dreams; one was to show in dressage and jumping, and the other to race. I love this series as well as the Golden Filly series, I'm just waiting for the rest of it to come to kindle so that I can re read it all and go through some childhood memories!

When I was around 12 years old, I discovered this series at the local library. Now a decade later I purchased the books for myself! These books showed realistic views of horse care and that it's not all fast gallops on the beach and instant friendships with horses. It's true DJ Randall has a very mature attitude for a 14 yr old girl, but I believe she sets a good example for horse loving teens. She is responsible, hardworking, and goes through some tough times just like any person will. DJ learns to love her family, have a better relationship with God, as well as develop good life principles. This series really encouraged me. Besides horses, Snelling weaves in some subplots about art as well, with DJ's drawing talent and her book illustrator grandmother. As an art lover, I ended up buying the individual books instead of the combined edition. The lovely paintings on the covers add charm to the stories. These is a wonderful series and I am currently reading Snelling's Golden Filly horseracing books now!

DJ is a typical horse mad girl aiming for the Olympics. Only shes missing the vital part of the dream, the horse! This is a seriously good series that almost all horse mad people can relate to. Problem #1. Get a horse. Problem #2 Get to the top. Good writing and with half the series in one volume this is a well worth its price. Highly recommend this book to horse lover of all ages!

I love the High Hurdles books! I love these books because they are not boring, they have interesting plots, and there is not a lot of romance involved like some teenage books. These books are good for ages 11-14. I highly recommend these books and the Golden Filly series also written by Lauraine Snelling.

i thought this book was excellent. DJ lives my dream life despite the parents. it was a bit slow but all made sense and still was entertaning. i absolutly love DJs strong faith and trust in God. i definately am getting the second collection

I love this book! I liked how she would go and ask Gran for help and her response was a Bible verse. But the one thing was I didn't like was how her mom treated her. I think that she had a love for God and that there are really no other books that are like that. At first I didn't like the fact that Gran and Joe were getting married but I like it now I think that they are sweet. And Joe is sweet and care about Gran and DJ. I would recommend it to all of you. ;)
