Chapter 1: Energy and Its Nonrenewable Sources: with intro about greenhouse gases and evidence of global warming
1.1 Melting Glaciers and Sea Ice (A Demonstration): five-step demo with ice cubes is followed by five pages of text about Energy, Conservation of Energy, and Power, including formulas for work (energy) and power.
*1.2 How Powerful Are You? (An Experiment): five-step procedure requiring scale, stopwatch,and measuring tape is followed by two pages about measuring energy, with a table for converting from one energy unit to another, and another stating the number of Btus stored as potential energy in various fuels.

Chapter 2: Solar Energy: A Renewable Energy Source: with intro about biofuels, nuclear energy, and solar energy
