When I was a young baseball player growing up in Oakland City, I used to visit Mr. Roush at his home on main street. I remember asking him if the pitchers threw as hard back then - resulting in "Hell yea, they did!" Another time us little leaguers were collecting donations for baseball when I came up to Roush. The first thing he asked was "Why's your uniform so clean?", then he reached in his pocket for some cash. This book brought back those memories and more. Edd was always eager to talk about baseball with me, and he always treated me with kindness. Mr. Stinson's biography is a great history of one of the greatest ballplayers to play the game.
