If you buy only one book on ADD, make it this one.
It is huge, comprehensive, terrifically well organized and uniquely easy to use. Because it is presented in list form, you can turn to the topic you need and get more information in two or three pages than most books contain in a 25 page chapter that takes you much, much longer to read.
And if you are a parent of a child or teen with ADD, you simply do not have extra time. You will get what you need here and get it fast.
There are even sample forms (goals sheets, behavioral records, and charts) that are easy to copy and use.
This book will make your life easier!

Without a doubt, this is the most comprehensive and easy-to-read book on AD/HD I have ever read. This book would be an excellent reference for any classroom with AD/HD students. The list format makes finding what you're looking for a pleasant experience. Plus, I've been able to incorporate many of the strategies presented in this book, and I'm extremely pleased with the results.

The text of this extensive book is easy to read, and will be an asset to any elementary teacher with ADHD students in their classroom. I like the way the lists are categorized, so it isn't necessary to read whole chapters to find out what you are looking for. It's great!

I didn't expect this book to be so huge...in size and also in the amount of info. i just received this book today and have skimmed over most of the info in it. i have already found several pages that i will photocopy and give to my child's teacher. the way that the information is presented is easy to follow, easy to locate, and easy to understand. well worth the money and time spent reading it from cover to cover.

The ADHD Book of Lists: A Practical Guide for Helping Children and Teens with Attention Deficit Disorders

OK, I haven't finished this book. In fact I'm only half way thru. That doesn't mean it's no good. It just is a huge book with so much information. It starts at the beginning where you suspect something is up with your kid. How to decide if you might need professional help, where to find it, how to make the best choices for your family. This is not an easy read book. It won't engage your attention and absorb you. But it will help you organize your own personal program to handle your own little ADHD kid. Quite a bit of the info deals with medication. We decided not to go that route so I skipped over that part. However many concepts in the book assume that is the way most people go and it is an integral part of their recommended treatments.

Personally we decided to go with homeopathic treatment. In one week we saw results. My son had been tested, diagnosed with ADHD and sensory processing disorder. He was receiving occupational therapy, play therapy, speech therapy. We had experimented with other alternative treatments including listening therapy, NAET, biofeedback and I can't even remember what else. He made sporadic improvements but was still a very difficult child. He had behavior problems and couldn't focus. After a week of homeopathic medicines his teacher, OT and therapist asked what we were doing differently. Here it is 6 months later and he continues to make huge improvements. He just turned 5 and can read and do math. He is focusing at school, in fact his teacher says she is amazed. To her he seems like a totally different child.

I think I'd rather I'd read this at Barnes and Noble or at a library than bought the book. It's good for people who need help learning about the disability and are new to the subject, specifically for elemetery age kids. But for those who are older of us who are looking to learn some new things, it's a giant book of lists and you know how organized us ADD people are... Hey look something shiney!

Good for when you want to read something .. but like every ADHD book you get (and you parents know what I mean .. doctors, teachers, friends, acquaintances, etc. tell you .. "this book is the best.. you can make them normal/good/listen/etc.) .. but it pretty much like most books. Do I think purchasing it is a great thing, ugh .. maybe not. Check it out at the local library 1st and see if its a repeated type of reference. I purchased due to my son's teachers / counselors suggesting it and I opened it here and there. Much quicker to do searches on Internet, ask doctor questions or just plain parent instinct.

The ADHD book of list is a great guide to discovering the facts about ADHD and what can be done to work with a child who has been diagnosed with it and help him or her to be successful in life. It is appropriate for parents, counselors, educators and an community member who comes in contact with children and adults with this disorder.
