I got this because we had it at the library in the Boys and Girls Club where I worked and it was the book everyone wanted to read. The kids fought over who got it first. Now my own son has started getting into comic book characters, so he loves this. He's three, so it's a little advanced, but he likes to ask me about the pictures and he lets me read parts of it to him.

With a franchise as diversified like the X-Men, I don't think anyone can't create a guide to satisfy all fans, new or old. Personally I find this a very comprehensive introductory guide to the world of the X-Men. I particularly like the way they structured the guide - 60s, 70s, 80s, etc. with some information on the important sagas. If you're an old-time fan, you may find the book a bit too simple, but overall a credible effort which deserves a 4-star rating.

The book arrived quickly. But was in very poor condition. The edges were all bent and the spine was broken. This was to be a Christmas gift and I was very disappointed.
