Received this book as a gift from my wife, who bought it looking for fun ways to connect with our soon-to-be-born daughter. Unfortunately, it was not made very clear on the product page that the book's content is dedicated to linking these activities (which usually really are fun, spontaneous ideas) to the Bible, Jesus Christ, and God. Now that's probably fine if you are Christian, but for those of us that are not, it means that roughly half the content of this book is useless. I don't need to ask my daughter how many Bible stories she can think of that relate to water, or how God showed his love for us yesterday.

This book should have been more clearly marketed as a book for fathers--but not all fathers, just Christian ones.

I was going to try and write a clever review about Rob and Joanna Teigen's book 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates.

Instead, I'm going to do this. Because it's straight to the point, just like their book.

I'm a dude.

I have two daughters.

More often than not, I'm at a loss when my wife asks (read "tells") me to "go do something with this girls."

I know I'm not alone.

Rob and Joanna have come to our rescue.

88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates is filled with exactly what the title promises. It's more than that, though. Each idea is presented in an easy to read and understand format. The "Grab" part tells you what you'll need. The "Go" part tells you what you're going to do. And the "Grow" parts gives you a little lesson to learn with your special little girl. That's my favorite part. It even gives you a prayer!

So, there you have it. A no-frills review of a no-frills book.

If you're a dad to daughters, or a wife to a dad of daughters, or a friend of a wife of a dad...you get the point.

This book is exactly as advertised. And it's great.

You won't regret getting it.

This book has some wonderful ideas, however should have been clear that it is more of a religious book than a book centered on having fun with your daughter... God is mentioned more than Daddy or Daughter...

We are big on quality time in our house. Even though I stay home and hubby is home as much as he is able, we are human and tend to be a bit lazy. So we have scheduled several quality time items on our calendar including daughter-parent dates. While we have them scheduled on OUR calendars weekly, we usually end up getting one a month, which is far superior to not getting any all.

But what should we DO on our dates? Mine usually revolve around shopping and a treat. My hubby has a harder time. In the winter, it's cold and neither of them like that. And he doesn't shop. Obviously. Enter 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates: Fun, Easy & Creative Ways to Build Memories Together. I narrowed down the options to age and weather appropriateness and passed it to my husband. I heard the "Oh yeah! We haven't done that in a long time!" and "Oh, that's a good idea, too!". Crisis averted :).

88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates is aimed at girls from age 6-12 but I would say that you could use many of them for girls as young as 3 or 4. Each date consists of a short list of items needed, what to DO on the date, some things to talk about, and a short prayer at the end. Each idea is super short - 2 to 3 pages. Most of the ideas can be done without a lot of planning and there is a good mix of free/cheap/easy dates with those requiring a little more planning and/or money.

My hubby picked Puppy Love as his date. He took my daughter to the local pet store -- she loved it even though the bird and fish selection was pretty small. Then he took her to the Toys R Us down the way and she picked out a "pony" to remember their date by. She loves it and carries it everywhere which is fascinating to me because she's never really had an attachment to stuffed animals.Read more ›

I'm very disappointed in the religious nature of this book. I should have read more carefully through the description, but the religious nature of this book takes up 50% of the actual book versus being only briefly mentioned within the description. Very misleading and disappointing. Not at all what I wanted or thought I was ordering.

From cover to cover, authors Rob and Joanna Teigen offer a wide assortment of fun and easy activities ranging from the creative to the active. Some are relatively cost-free. Your daughter will learn new things, become more creative, but most of all develop a close relationship with her father.

From cooking and baking, small science projects, to building and painting, the opportunities for fun and creativity are endless. Each suggestion lists the items needed, how-to and a prayer to pray together. Spending time together will be more fun than ever and dads get the opportunity to receive their daughter's undivided attention as they bake cookies, walk in the park, create awesome crafts and laugh.

This book is a must-have for dads of young girls which will be used over and over again to foster a relationship that will continue to grow through the teen years and beyond.
