This is a beautiful story! I couldn't put it down. The short vignettes flowed beautifully between her difficult upbringing and her incredibly successful adulthood to create a moving story. It doesn't read like a bitter memoir, but is a story of hope. There are heroes and angels along the way that I will not soon forget. Read this book and watch Hattie find herself and God....

Hattie Kauffman lets us into her personal life in her book, Falling Into Place. She overcame a poor life growing up with absentee parents, where the children took care of each other while attending elementary school.
Ms. Kauffman's aunt tried to help the family as much as she could. She did take Hattie to church, where Hattie began her own spiritual journey.
What a brave person to write such a personal memoir. A very touching and moving story.

MY VIEW

The story is both heart breaking and inspiring. A true story of rags to riches mixed with personal rejections and a sense of being broken.. It is a story of self discovery. It's a story of going through what has worth in your life and what doesn't. Deciding what is your true meaning of living.

The author mixes together parts of her childhood along with her life today. She lived a impoverished life, parents that were never around. The older siblings took care of the younger ones. That had to be hard on everyone. The true blessing in her life was that she had the courage to overcome the bad things and make something of her life.

Marriage was sacred to her, But one day her husband declared he didn't want to be with her anymore. Hattie's poor life overturned. I found this tsory had a lot of things in it that would fit into a lot of other people's lives. It was more realistic that way. She didn't let the painful divorce overcome her. She found peace and grace in the loving arms of God.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is having a difficult time in their life. You may find that God will inspire you. You can turn things around with the grace of God.

If you wonder if God cares. really cares, or if He even exists, you might want to read this book. You may find some answers you've been looking for.

I was given a complimentary copy of FALLING INTO PLACE by Hattie Kauffman from Smith Publicity Group for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.

If you live in the USA, you will have seen Hattie Kauffmann’s face on television regularly as she was an Emmy award-winning network correspondent with CBS News.
I don’t live in the United States so I had never heard of her until I came across her book. I wondered how well she would use her writing skills as a journalist to compose her own story.
I was not disappointed. Hattie’s autobiography is very readable – so much so that I read it in two days.
The book starts from the time her husband suddenly decides to ask her for a divorce. With that, she felt the foundation of her life falling from under her feet. She then starts to recall her hardships as a child neglected by alcoholic parents. The details of her difficult childhood brought tears to my eyes and anger at how anyone could treat their children that way. The scene where she scrapped the tiniest morsel of jam from the jar to try to assuage her hunger was just heartbreaking!
Events in her life then alternate between the present and the past. I would have preferred it if everything is told in a chronological style. As it is, I sometimes had to stop and think: Oh, is she talking about the past now, or the present.
Even so, if Hattie had set out to write this book to inspire and encourage, she has succeeded very well. I was reminded again that, when all is said and done, there is only one thing that we all can be absolutely certain about in life.
4 and a half stars.

Her struggles are very real and form who she is today. Her pride determination and strength helped herself out of poverty to one of the greatest newscasters. She became a very good inspiration role model to not only her Native American fans, but fans all over the U.S. I would recommend this autobiography to anyone who needs a boost in their life to become whatever they choose to become. Because your will and determination and talent could get you there as it helped get Hattie Kauffman there when it seemed like life's obstacles got in the way.
