A timely, deeply felt message, blunted, unfortunately, by stilted academic prose. It appears the author couldn't decide on her audience, but given the importance of her subject would have better served by a more flowing style.

I found it to be a good book on an important subject, critiquing the liberal paradigm that dominates higher education. I wish the writing had been more consistently conversational and overall I think it could have been shorter. But I'm really glad that Jennifer Simpson put the effort in to write and publish it.
