I started following the Indians in 1959, when this team was a vivid memory. I love how these SABR books have bios of every player, even if they only played one game. Now I know something about Dick Tomanek, other than that he was traded to the A's with Roger Maris. Also has bills of coaches and broadcasters, including the Hall of Famer Jimmy Dudley.

Remember this fairly well. Back then the Pirates were so bad that many many people in our area were Indians Fans. And many of our relatives used Route 21 to relocate to Ohio for years in order to get a decent job. They were Indians fans and came back and told you all about it. They were a real good team that just had to put up with the Yankees. This was a nice remembrance but just didn't grab me.

A great compilation of baseball biographies of all the players (even ones who were just there a short time) on the 1954 Cleveland Indians. The biographies were all written by different people at different times, but as in any collections, they were very uneven in content and quality and they should have been updated to reflect the publication time of this volume. There should have been a statistical summary and analysis or the team at the conclusion of the book. Nevertheless, to anyone interested in the topic and times, the book was a useful addition to the literature.
