I call my husband Bear, he calls me Mole. When I spotted this, I knew I had to have it. It got a great giggle out of us, and went right into our future babies box. We still randomly go "Doot Doot Doot" at one another (makes sense if you read the book) and we have read it more than once.

Well drawn, written perfectly for a child to grasp, and short enough for children to keep their attention, but long enough that they can fall asleep to it (or at least get almost there) I love this book.

I am looking forward to buying the rest of the Bear and Mole Stories.

Spring is Here made me smile, and it's a guarantee to bring a smile to the face of any preschooler or toddler. It's perfect for story time; the text is spare and the characters are large, bright and expressive. This is the story of Mole, who discovers that spring has sprung and keeps trying to wake up his friend Bear. Bear doesn't want to wake up until Mole manages to make him breakfast fit for a bear, and by then Mole wants to go to sleep! It's a very cute story, and Mole and Bear are very endearing. There's lots of good chances for any group story time leader to snore and fuss about, thereby guaranteeing some chuckles. The ending is a simple but effective joke, ending this ode to springtime on just the right note. Recommended.

Adorable little story book. I'm using this with my music classes - Mole is so excited to get ready for spring, it's an easy story to adapt the folk song "here we go 'round the mulberry bush" to as Mole runs around doing chores.

My children (5 & 3 yrs.) love it! The text is simple and the pictures are colorful. It provides opportunity for prediction (what is Mole making?) and repetition. They laugh each time we read it, and we've read it a great number of times!

We read in Sleep, Big Bear, Sleep!, Maureen Wright's delightful book that was gorgeously illustrated by Will Hillenbrand, that Big Bear kept getting confused when told to go to sleep. Once he finally fell asleep, he slept right through winter, as bears are supposed to.
Now that spring is here, Mole wakes up, smells the air, tiptoes outside and feels mud under his feet. Yes! Spring is here. It is time for Big Bear to wake up. Bear is snoring. Mole cannot get Big Bear to wake, try as he might. Will he get Big Bear to wake up, and how? This is a short and endearing story for pre-schoolers as well as kindergartners, made that much cuter by the expressions on Big Bear and Mole's faces.
The illustrations are double-spread, and while I read an Adobe Digital Editions version of the book, this book is perhaps best enjoyed in paperback form.
