This guide was very disappointing on several fronts. The author's point of view is confined to that of a small, shallow draft, power boat and information relevant to a 45-foot, deep draft, sailboat is entirely lacking. Also, the author's descriptions of many anchorages exaggerates negative features such as the current to the extent that we found ourselves wondering if he was intentionally discouraging people from anchoring in what might be his favorite places; there is current in the Broughtons and if you take Mr. Vassilopoulos' negative comments too seriously, you will be missing many wonderful anchorages (of course, you need to know what you are doing to be up there anyway, and having all chain instead of a rope rode makes it easier to anchor safely in more places). Although this edition is supposedly "updated", in 2015 we found several descriptions that were very out-of-date (no usable float at Joe Cove, for example). Better Broughton cruising guide choices are Best Anchorages of the Inside Passage (used) Best Anchorages of the Inside Passage: British Columbia's South Coast from the Gulf Islands to Cape Caution or (new) Best Anchorages of the Inside Passage -2nd Edition (Ocean Cruise Guides) or the Dreamspeaker Guide Vol. 5 Dreamspeaker Cruising Guide Series: The Broughtons: Vancouver Island--Kelsey Bay to Port Hardy, Volume 5.
