The world didn't end in December 2012 as the Mayans predicted. Advanced as they may have been, they got it wrong! What did happen though, was the launch of an eye-opening new novel that questions the existence of such super humans and how they could indeed be involved in a coming apocalypse...

`A Pale Horse' by Wendy Alec is a mind-blowing reading adventure. It focuses on cataclysmic future events through the framework of a fast-paced fictional story and touches on everything from global government, martial law and pandemic to the Extra-Terrestrial and UFOs, along with genetic contamination and human cloning.

The fourth book in the `Chronicles of Brothers' fantasy series, `A Pale Horse' continues to uncover the parallel worlds of the angelic brothers: Gabriel, Michael and Lucifer and the earthly brothers: Jason, Adrian and Nick. It's a riveting story that goes beyond sibling rivalry or brotherly camaraderie, spanning the eons of time, with many different subplots and a full cast of characters, some endearing and others definitely not, in an all out war of good against evil.

You can read the Chronicles books in sequence starting with `The Fall of Lucifer' followed by `Messiah, the First Judgement' and `Son of Perdition' or you can just as well start with `A Pale Horse'. I think it's a great introduction to the series, which will entice you to read the other books as the sheer magnitude of the plot captivates you.

`A Pale Horse' reveals hidden secrets of the past, conspiracies of the present as well as many eternal truths. It is filled with intrigue and suspense, is not without humour and laced with a touch of romance.

Were there giants on the earth at one time? A mixed race with superior intelligence? What is the basis of mythology?

THIS IS THE BEST ONE IN THE SERIES SO FAR. I DID NOT THINK THE LAST BOOK COULD BE BEATEN, BUT THIS ONE HAS LEFT IT IN THE DUST.WENDY HAS EVERYONE IN THIS ONE THRU OUT THE BOOK, FROM GOD TO CHRIST. WHEN CHRIST TALKS TO THE CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK, SHE MAKES IT FEEL LIKE YOU ARE IN A REAL CONVERSATION IS GOING ON RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. WHEN THE RATURE HAPPENS YOU HAVE TO CHEER FOR THE LUCKY PPL WHO ARE BEING TAKEN TO HEAVEN. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK IN THIS SERIES JUST TO SEE SATAN GET HIS BUT KICK.

Waited 2 Years to read this and it was worth it :) epic tale of the coming rapture and end time prophecies being fulfilled. You have to read the first 3 before you read this otherwise you will be confused. Loved this book and the series immensely!

With heart-pounding excitement through and through the 3rd book, and especially the shocking cliffhanger, the chance of the 4th book to better the last was slim, very slim. As a standalone novel, Son of Perdition (book #3) holds up, as in, you could read it first in the series and not be too lost on the story.

The major difference between this book is that you MUST read the book before it or you will lose so much buildup and context. So as a standalone adventure, this one doesn't have it's own legs, but instead it has wings! Because the last book was building so much this one is twice as fast and is twice as exciting.

At the opener, we are finally given closure to the aforementioned cliffhanger. The subsequent chapters give you a small breather before the rest of the book pulls you into a nefarious plot of world domination by the Antichrist his notorious Mark of the Beast. That is where this story takes a major turn. Instead of being your run-of-the-mill End Times story, Alec puts an outlandish spin on the Mark, but thanks to some foreshadowing - even as far back as book #1 - this idea works. I can't imagine it going any other way in the story that she has crafted. Where will the 5th book go from here? Thanks to another terribly awesome ending, the wait is absolute torture. I am pulling my hair at the thought of waiting more than a year to see what happens next.

Wendy Alec not only outdoes herself in this 4th installment, but she sets the bar so far above its predecessors that only a Higher Power can impart the wisdom to top this one!

Something deep stirred inside of me as the read the words of this book. Each page brought me closer to the reality of what truly is about to happen around me. Ms. Alex's words ran deep into my Spirit and caused my heart to reach out to a God who loves me, who soon I would be in His arms. It isn't often that a book can stir such deep emotional feelings, feelings that come from the very core of my existence. Perhaps it is because this book is more than a story, it is the future. It is why Christians do what they do, and the darkness does what it does. It is our destiny. Read this book, and see where you belong. Highly recommended.

This book is perhaps the best one yet of the Chronicles of Brothers series. It is exciting, intriguing and yet still mysterious, even after all these books. The only and truly disappointing thing is the fact that I manage to read a whole half of the book in a single two and a half hour sitting. It flies by!

Pros of this book:
-The edge of suspense and mystery still continues on in the book, even when a long pondered question in the series is finally answered.
-Nick's in it. Must I say more?
-Even still, halfway through the "tribulation", people and angels still make jokes. In fact, I thought that the "collateral damage" of taking Charsoc's bag was the funniest moments in the series thus far. Who knew Charsoc the Dark cared so much about his slippers?

Cons:
-As I writer, yes, I can't help but notice the overuse of adjectives, descriptions and wordy prose. It's definitely gotten better with each book though!
-Still too many characters. But, writers sometimes have the problem of loving characters too much that they have to build each person in both armies (I know the feeling very well).
-We have to wait for the next book. :(

Honestly, Story trumps writing every day of the week. Because you can have the most perfect writing and a lack-luster story and it won't be good. You have to realize that Mrs. Alec is normally in the visual arts arena. That's how she's going to write.

Remember, Susan Collins of the Hunger Games Trilogy isn't a great writer but she is incredibly skilled at storytelling. Story trumps writing.
