Sue Bulanda did a wonderful job of bringing to our attention, by using the scriptures, just how much God loves and values His creatures, as well as our responsibility and accountability before Him for their care. It moved me to re read and re examine the beloved Bible stories and passages pertaining to animals I had heard as a child, thereby opening my eyes to new and wonderful truths concerning God's view and purposes for creating them. I recommend this book to anyone, young or old, who has ever asked those "hard" questions about animals and would like a renewed perspective excavated from the truth of God's Word. This is an easy book to read and understand. It will definitely make you stop and take pause to consider just what you believe and how you perceive the animals you know and love as well as the entire animal kingdom.

I didn't expect to like Susan Bulanda's book, but I did. I wanted to read it because I was aware of the author's reputation as an animal behaviorist and trainer as well as a major lover of animals and wanted to see how those things would relate to her devotion to God and the Bible. I admit to being on the agnostic side, and this book did not change my mind. However, Susan Bulanda has a way of quoting something from the Bible and adding just enough of her own observations to make it seem like a possibility. For example, in her chapter "Can Animals Be Evil?" her biblical quote is regarding God cursing the serpent and then she explains that God changed the appearance (and way of life) of snakes from creatures that walked on legs into things that crawled on their bellies. I think more than anything else, Bulanda's love for animals has enabled her to make these passages from the Bible believable even to readers who are not deeply into religion. She leaves much open for interpretation, which makes it possible for even an agnostic animal lover to enjoy reading this book. Not long enough to become tedious, this is a worthwhile read for anyone who loves living things.

A wonderful look at the relationship between man and animals, as seen from a Biblical viewpoint. The author's deep faith and her love for animals makes this a must read for everyone who values the beautiful world God gave us, and the creatures who inhabit it.

This inspirational book provides insights that the reader might not be aware of, into Biblical passages concerning animals. It illustrates God's love and care for animals and humans, our connection to them, and our mandate from God to treat them kindly and to be good stewards of His creation. Among the topics it also addresses an important question that many people who love animals have - "will my pets be in heaven"? Importantly, the author encourages the reader to go to the Bible as the source, not just accept her word for what she writes.
The fresh insights provided by the author in this easy to read book, will foster greater love, respect and appreciation for God and His creatures.

Susan's look at what the Bible says about animals touched my heart. I have been intrigued by God's creation since I was a child growing up on a small Iowa farm. I have visited many national parks, forests, and wildlife refuges, and I worked as a journalist near Yellowstone National Park for many years. God's creation, especially the animals, speaks to me in an amazing way, and I was enthralled by Susan's approach to this book -- I felt like I'd discovered a kindred spirit as I read her words. She uses Scripture to back up her premises and gives readers thoughts to deeply ponder. You will discover beautiful treasures in this book -- I highly recommend it!

"God's Creatures: A Biblical View of Animals" is a remarkable book. I am a lifelong animal lover, especially dogs. I've read the Bible through every year since I was in high school. I'm a Christian. I loved every bit of this book.

The chapter headings describe what the book discusses:

Created Wild & Domestic
Adam & the Animals
God Cares for Animals
The Killing & The Eating of Animals
The Ownership & Use of Animals
Do Animal Have the Same Rights & Rules as Humans?
Can Animals Think?
Understanding & Communicating with Animals
God Communicates with Animals
Animals as Agents of God's Judgment
Can Animals be Evil?
Animals Minister to Humans
Is the Bible Uncomplimentary to Animals?
Will Animals Be in Heaven?
Conclusion: Lessons from the Animals
Epilogue: The Creator's Free Gift

Author Susan Bulanda was motivated to write this book because the people she deals with in her professional work with dogs and their owners clearly wanted--and needed--it. Losing a dog causes the human who loves that dog such grief. And we have so much else about animals that makes us wonder.

So what does the Bible say about animals? Read this book, and you will find a solid foundation of what it says. God certainly loves the animals, and he loves us.

For those of us who accept God's Word as supreme authority, I can honestly say this book has given me new insight to the associated scriptures of God's creation, specifically of animals. It presents a wonderful and perfect view of God's creatures and why they were created. It was God's intention from the beginning of creation for man to enjoy the animals. Why else would he save them from the flood of Genesis chapter 6? My eyes have scrolled many of the scripture references in this book over the years but have never noticed the connection to the importance of animals. My deepest gratitude goes to Susan for the many, many hours of research it took to answer the questions we all have but are unable to answer. I now have renewed hope of being reunited some day with my collie mix Boots who passed away some 24 years ago. This book is both a treasure and a gift to share with others.
