I would have preferred the Foundation's edition in a smaller travel size but alas, it doesn't appear to exist. This one has a lot of peripheral text intended for Helen personally or prior to editing out a lot of the "noise", but it suits my purposes as a smaller, lighter version I can easily pack up. Nicely bound and presented.

What on earth can one say about a seminal book that has changed the world, in the quietest, most unobtrusive way, under the radar and with incredible stealth? hmmm... I shall give it a go, and the reader will forgive my ineptitude!

I have downloaded this little puppy on my kindle, so I can easily read this huge (and I mean huuuugggge) book without it breaking my knee, but I have ready it several times, in my life, and I think I am just getting a handle on it!

For those of you who don't know, this book came about after a heart-felt plea for a "better way" to be revealed. The author, and her colleague were working at a highly prestigious and highly competitive college in New York, where the back-biting and negativity was literally frustrating and draining them. Shortly thereafter, Helen Schucman began to take notes, which eventually became A Course In Miracles.

ACIM is basically three books in one, a text, a work book and a text for teachers. The premise is that most of us have been indoctrinated via our culture and society to think in hate-filled, non-loving, competitive ways, and that this is a kind of insanity. In order to return to sanity, we must retrain our minds and remove the outer layer of indoctrination. Underneath all of this, lying unconcerned and unsullied, lies the eternal love which is our true nature. We asked not to seek love, but instead seek all the blocks to its awareness inside.

The Course is not the only way to do this, but it is one very powerful way that I believe works best with the western, educated mind. It slowly buffs away the callouses of the ego, until we can see ourselves revealed within. We actively do this by employing the workbook lessons, and having some understanding of the basics of the text.Read more ›

I did not like this book. Its teachings seem too cult like. This is a text written from depression and the author seemed to be removed from reality. Her personality is a strange mixture of a series of involvements with Jewishness, New Age thought, Catholic practices, and scientific skepticism. This book is a blend of poorly understood Christianity, poorly understood Christian Science, and compounded with psychological problems and processes. Not a book about miracles as the title seems to allude. This is a waste of paper and time reading. I did not receive a discount on this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. For almost all my purchases I rely on reviews before deciding whether or not I make the purchase. I tend to ignore the reviews about a product where the reviewer raves about an item without giving clear reasons for their conclusions. I likewise pay close attention to reviews that are critical of an item. Customers that are unhappy tend to have a greater motivation to leave a review than does a happy customer. Customers leaving a critical review are often writing out of frustration because they had a bad experience, and they will often point out concerns that are valid that positive reviewers may often glaze over or even ignore. With all reviews, I encourage you to read between the lines. If the review is totally generic and the words could be written for any product then I suggest that you ignore that review. I find reviews often quite valuable, so I strive to leave valuable reviews. If my review helped you in anyway, please take a second to click “Yes” this review helped me.

This book is taking me a long time to read as it is so packed with incredible information. I am a late comer to C in M, after having written my own book on the same theme. (http://TheGurusGift.com ) I wish I had read it before so I could include some of the amazing statements in my own book. It just verifies that the Second Coming is about the transformation of the mind/ego to heart/divine. This is the next stage of human evolution where we all live in harmony and love and no more time, hatred, anger and war. The story of how Ms. Schucman got the book is quite fascinating too. She was the original reluctant channeler, and seems to have been trying to hide this from the world when it should have been blasted across it. I also recommend the workbook. If you do the exercises, your mind is going to change and your true self is going to emerge. I cannot think of another book... no not the Bible, Bhagawad Gita, or Koran that can do a better job of transforming humans to Gods.

The placement of words in italics makes no sense, detracts from the flow of the writing, and is even annoying at times. The editors would have been better advised to avoid italics altogether. I purchased this book so that I would have a lighter weight copy of the text that would be easier to carry than the combination text, workbook and manual version. I do not enjoy reading this book and feel that it was a complete waste of my money.
