There's little much I can add here on this latest masterpiece. The book is perfect and a wonderful addition to the Outback series. Mr. Freeman captures male nudity in the most beautiful sense. Natural, rugged, and athletic builds--approximately 190 pages; nothing manicured which can be so easily found without nothing special in almost all of the other books on male nudity. Mr. Freeman is a true artist who captures the male body in total perfection.

Outback Dusk is a masterpiece of the male nude in photography. Paul Freeman can take the ruggedness of the outback terrain and match it with the perfect rugged model, or soften it by using a not so rugged model, either way it works . He is a master of shadowing and positive and negative space when posing his models. There is a perfect quietness to his photographs that can be both calming on one hand, soothing and warm on the other, with just a hint of sexual tension what some call "warm of may" a sexy innocence.

His pictures in this book and his other Bondi and Outback books are almost candid in their composition. Which to me is the greatest talent a photographer can have. In his Heroics books the models are posed to resemble the classical style of art, in composition, shadow play and the negative spacing of the models figures in their poses is impeccable.

I have just received Photographer Paul Freeman's newest autographed book Outback Dusk.
There are few photographers who truly capture men and the male nude the way he does. I have to admit he is the best. I have been quite inspired by his work in my own work. Though I haven't done any nudes in my work just yet, I do however see, and feel, the artistry he puts into his work: light, shadow, model, lens and the print of his visual works.
I look at my own photographic work in a much different light since I have begun studying Mr. Freeman's photographs. When looking at his work, Freeman captures an honest beauty where men can be men in the world through their ruggedness, at times each other, their independence, silence, at play, nature, their honesty, a bond of friendship and most importantly of love between one another. It's men in all their beauty. The photographs represent the beauty of being a man in the world, gay or otherwise.
For me, his images represent those qualities I love most about being a man, a gay man for that matter.
Outback Dusk is a beautiful artistic monolith of Freeman's talent as a photographer.
Dusk is a great edition to the collection of the Outback series.
Inspiring photographs, Mr. Freeman.

Paul Freeman is an artist and a poet, in the manner of Walt Whitman. Invariably his books are astonishingly fine and perhaps much of that is due to the fact that he respects the natural beauty and rustic atmosphere of the Outback of his Australia - and the men who inhabit it. Everything in this book is natural - the settings, the `poses', the gazes of the men, the frankly un-manscaped bodies (natural hair from tussled locks to chest to arms and legs etc), the sense of atmosphere of the air of the outback, the use of natural light, the clothing - everything is natural.

In this particular book in the Outback series Freeman concentrates on the end of the day - that moment when work is over, rest is needed, and the languorous placements of his models on hay, on the ground, alone and together suggest thoughts that happen when day is passing into evening - the gloaming.

Artistically Freeman has paired black and white with full color and sepia toning so in keeping with the mood of the book. At times he uses ranch props, some playful interaction with cattle skulls, etc but nothing can distract from the surly, muscled perfectly honed natural bodies of his incomparable models.

For Paul Freeman devotees, this book is a must. It breathes the essence of what it is to be a man and few can imitate his ability to capture this essence. Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, November 14

An exciting presentation of rugged, handsome men! Whether they are in or out of their clothes, these hunks will tease your senses to the breaking point.

Your fingers will linger on the edge of the page, waiting for permission to turn while your eyes try to take in every curve and sculpted shadow.

And when you've finished you get to start the book all over again!

An artistic view of the male body with photos that are shot with a dark hue. Rustic settings, full bodied males, though at least one image is repeated in the book.

I got this as an impulse purchase from a Facebook ad, to use it as a gift for a friend. It is pricey, but as a large coffee table book it is well done and has a nice feel to it. It may not be the coffee table book for every coffee table though.

This is simply a breath taking coffee table book of the male body, one of God's most beautiful creations. The book is filled with both black and white as well as colored photos of real men, some with full beards or unshaven faces. If your looking for young twinks or muscle bound guys who take too much steroids look elsewhere: this book is more than that. This beautiful collection celebrates the male form in all its glory. Some pics have men totally naked with others having their private parts covered. One thing is certain: you will not be able to put this book down!
