This isn't a book I would have bought normally. But having said that, I do think it was well presented and had some good additions to the typical canon of literature. I found some new authors I was not familiar with, and that is always a good thing!

Divided into thematic sections with helpful introductions, this book features a smart selection of authors, from award-winners to famous names to emerging writers. Fresh, perceptive, and well-researched, this anthology offers new ways to conceive enduring issues. These poems, stories, and essays display a fulsome range of styles. And each has heart, a sense of authenticity and genuineness. This is the perfect book to help frame tough topics in the classroom--I can't wait to use it in my courses!
