Wonky Kindle editing aside, this book is a slightly uncomfortable look into the real world of professional wedding photography. I say slightly uncomfortable, because the stories Gary shares are the true grit side of the business that no one likes to look at directly, but is there staring us all in the face. Every photographer will tell you that their insides turn just a bit before every important once in a lifetime gig, because sometimes the outcome is not what you expected. Happens to all of us. We all have a shoot gone wrong.

What Gary demonstrates and teaches, that a 1500.00 workshop won't, is that professional photography is not all "sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows", and that you can't just jump in, and shoot on Program and pray that your images come out ok. As Gary points out, not everything can be fixed in photoshop with the action of the moment.

In addition to the horror stories, Gary gives sage advice on what to do to arm yourself in the event you are sued. Does Gary take some of his stories to the extreme? Sure he does. But so do the workshops in the other direction. Gary will help you to find the balance, and if you can read the horror stories, and know it can absolutely happen to you, and you still want to be a rockstar photographer, then by all means... Pick up the camera and go! But read this book first!

Slow and steady wins the race. Know what you are doing, and know what to do in the event of a massive fail.

Great book. Fong has been a great help in setting up my pair of A6000s, and this book helped make my first wedding shoot a huge success. Highly recommend this book for anyone who's looking to get into professional photography.

This is a great book, I love the content (5 stars for content)! My only complaint is with what I hope are errors in translating the book to the electronic version...there are words missing all over the place, parts of words. It's really annoying to be absorbed in the great content only to hit a "ful" and try to figure out what word is supposed to be there. I hope Amazon fixes these issues for future buyers and offers a new download to those who have already purchased the digital version.

I am a Gary Fong fan, but after reading his first book my expectations for this one were set really high. In this one Gary covers a lot of ground, but repeats some of the concepts he mentioned in the first one. The book will leave you with a bit of bitter aftertaste, which in my opinion is both good and not so good.

This is not an inspirational book on wedding photography that teaches you how to become a "rock star photographer". It is a little better in touch with the reality nowadays - a reality where photographers are facing an increasing amount of challenges in their job, and need to realize it's not just glitter and shine. A photographer's job is a very lonely one, the amount of work can be overwhelming, and there is always the potential of running into trouble. In a balanced and sobering way Gary talks about many of these aspects and discusses how to stay out of trouble.

Gary reveals and expands on the growing problems so prevalent in the photography industry with class and solid information. This book should have been written 6-7 years ago! Not only is it a well of information for the new professional photographer, but also offers up solid tips for the seasoned pro as well. Well written & to the point, the book highlights the myth and aura behind the growing army of self-declared "Rockstar" photographers who have hit the photography industry with lightning speed in the past few years. A great read for anyone who is tired of all the self-help type advice coming from countless photography workshops and seminars. Just go read it!

While I was considering photography for a new career this book came highly recommended. Once I learned more of Gary's story as a photographer and innovator, it greatly helped me understand a lot about the business, the challenges and the tips needed to succeed in this business, and how he did it so very well. I enjoyed reading of his humble beginnings and how it happens to the best of us. It was a great and enjoyable read in which I couldn't wait to get back to. I would recommend this book over and over again. No matter what your experience is as a photographer today you will walk away with things you won't ever forget.

I first discovered Gary Fong through a few YouTube tutorials talking about various photographic topics that I found interesting. My personal experience is somewhere between hobbyist and Prosumer (depending upon the subject). I find being Professional means someone actually wants to pay you to use your photographic skills and that's harder than you think. So, after watching a few videos, I quickly realized that Gary knew a thing or two about Photography and captured my never ending interest. So once I saw this book, I was intrigued with what Gary had to say. I found myself reading the book in a few evenings and didn't realize the preparation, customer strategies, and thought that Gary used to be successful in this career field. I really didn't have any idea about the legal pitfalls and issues that can arise if you don't prepare and treat your customer fairly. I found this book simple and straight to the point covering many important aspects of the business. A very good read that inspiring photographers should read before they want to take that next step.
