I have good things and bad things to say about this book. I'll get the bad out of the way since it is more generic and is actually a condemnation of the current serialization trend. I am not alone in my hostility to publishing books in parts, rather than as a stand alone read. I don't mind books that explore the same characters in a new situation, but this dragging out of one story over 3, 4, 5 and more "books" is beyond irritating. Most of the plots are far too thin for this treatment. I know many people who will refuse to even start a book that ends with a cliffhanger until the entirety is completed. By then, their interest may have faded and they will have moved on to the latest "most talked about" book. Authors and publishers beware, your audience is feeling hostile and restless.

Now, to this specific book which, of course, you should not read until you've read the first volume: The Billionaire Banker. I enjoyed The Billionaire Banker, but it seemed to be following a path already firmly paved by others. The second installment takes you to a new place, where the world is very dark indeed. It's hard to talk too much about the plot without giving away spoilers, although a good portion of the book again follows a well-trod path. Angry, possessive alpha male, intent on revenge because heroine left him. She begins to learn of things done in her name to put him off. He learns her not very well kept secret, but doesn't let on that he knows, although his anger abates. She pushes him to make him lose control and is horrified by what she learns when he starts to let her in.

But then, THEN, the forces against them start their machinations again. I won't go further than that. The clues are tied into Greek mythology, which is a nice touch.

I was overcome with multitude of emotions after reading FORTY 2 DAYS, I was stunned that I needed time to recover. When this happens, you know you've read an amazing book. The main characters, Blake and Lana, and the ensemble cast brings to the forefront a myriad of emotions to the readers. Ms. Georgia Le Carre's incredible talent brought balance to the credibility of the plot in combining love, passion, power and greed with suspense. You will be biting your nails and find yourself at the edge of your seat as the story unfolds, you're never sure what's going to happen next. This is a combination of all of my favorite things in a book, all wrapped up in one that I'm not even sure how to categorize it.

At the beginning of the book, we find Lana awaiting anxiously for her turn to speak to the loan officer who would either approve or deny her application. Fear and hope are riding high on this much needed loan, she'll either make it or break it. In her state of agitation and apprehension, her senses are so keen to every single activity around her and got even more afraid when she was taken up to the upper level of the bank when everyone else were being seen on the first level. She felt even more dreadful when she was ushered discreetly into a private office and got the shock of her life to find the man sitting behind the desk, was none other than the hot and amazing, enigmatic Blake. The same man she ran away from, the very same who, come hell or high water, wants his 42 days she owed him. Nothing and no one will stand in his way in getting what he wants...and he wants Lana. What ensues next was challenging, at times sad and humiliating, but by gosh, hotter than hell exciting and exhilarating!

I agree with another reviewer who stated you MUST read the first book before reading this one. Otherwise you will get totally lost in the subplots. I love this series and never could have predicted what is revealed toward the end. At first I thought it was a little far-fetched. However, after thinking about it, and events that have occurred (ie Kennedy assassination), it is plausible that an entity like the Agenda could actually exist. I adore the steamy love relationship between Blake and Lana, and I can't wait to find out in the next book if they are able to overcome all obstacles to find their HEA. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves steamy romance and suspense!

In book one the characters of Lana and Blake are introduced along with Lana's best friend Billie and Jack. This book has so much more of Billie. I really like her feisty attitude, fashion sense, and most of all her love of vodka! The author definitely gets so much more in depth on Billie and Lana's friendship. They have a serious bond and when I say it is unbreakable, I mean it.

There are a few revelations here. I am glad I had the time to sit on the beach and devour the book in one day. I will say there is a ton of steam. I am a lover of steam and this book had equal parts of mystery and steam, WOW

The plot twisting goes on throughout the book. There is also a time, for me anyway, when I was just thinking "Who can Lana trust, who can Blake trust" It was unusually good. I urge you to read if this is your genre, then believe me DO NOT move until the series is consumed, loved, and most importantly bragged about. It is one of these books where you must tell your friends to read it. The way I fell in love with Lana and her wholesome heart in book 1 was the way I loved her more in book 2.

The author does the main characters of Blake a Lana a great service by writing superb story lines. The family wealth for one thing was intriguing to me. To think that people DO live like that. I mean they control the news! That is serious stuff.
PLEASE if you loved book 1 then grab the entire series. Take my word this is great!
