Based on extensive past experience learning new technology basics thoroughly using the Visually series, I purchased this one as a Kindle Book to read on my notebook while I worked and learned on my new iPad. This technique worked GREAT!

I had tried to read a similar type book (Facebook for Dummies) on my keyboard Kindle. It was a disaster. It referred to diagrams and annotated illustrations that you couldn't see on the same screen, and even when you scrolled there, the detail was too small to read.

Even when you put the Dummies book on the PC, it was older and wasn't really designed for interactivity like this book is.

Visually Learning iPad has links that let you search on related topics, or follow thru on a topic to deepen your depth of understanding and proficiency.

Although you can read it on the iPad as well, I prefer to work along on the iPad while reading the details on my notebook.

I updated to the 4th generation iPad, and like with the iPad 2, I bought a Teach Yourself Visually book. Unlike with the iPad 2, though, I knew pretty much how to get around. So if you have NEVER used an iPad before, and even if you have, this is a must-have book. I learned new information even though I wasn't a new user. Just place the book next to you on the pae being described and follow along. This is a great book for someone who is visual or learns by doing and not just reading.

If you are like me and get bored quickly with pages and pages of "how to" text, this is the book for you. If you can't learn to use your iPad with this book, send the iPad back - you are too stupid to own one !

This book is everything it's cracked up to be (wherever that expression came from) and more. It really is helpful for those of us who learn best visually. My only problem--if it could be called that--is that I'm not a "techie," and am a complete novice with the I-Pad, so I'm frequently finding the info overwhelming. It's important to maintain focus based on where the reader is "at," and not become distracted by the info s/he is not yet ready for. And, no, I don't have an i-phone--just an ordinary cell phone. So I would guess that an experienced i-phone user would really enjoy this book.

This book is so helpful. Not only does it explain how to do things on the I-Pad, it actually shows you how to do them.
The "Dummies" books always make me feel like more of a "dummy", but this book makes me feel like I can do this all by myself!
