This book, although slightly confusing to read at times, was hard to put down. It gave a lot of insight into a very polarizing figure in Major League Baseball and have me appreciation for a player that I had previously disliked. I started reading the book with the hope that I would not turn in to a Harper fan, but the book did just that. He's cocky and brash, but he's focused an goal oriented. He's human. The book jumped around from time to time and was a little hard to follow in places which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. If you are a fan of baseball or just a fan of an amazing story, this book is a must read.

I did not expect this book to be as comprehensive as it was. Neither did I expect the Bryce Harper story to be as rich as it is, given that the man is only 20 years old...how much of a life story could he really have? But he does, and Miech's brilliant chronicle of the past few years of Harper's life gives even the most ardent and informed fan a fuller picture of the depth of Harper's talents, which go far beyond the baseball diamond. However, while it would be tempting to heap lavish praise upon a superstar, particularly in exchange for being given coveted access to the player and his family, Miech is beholden to no one in his frank and candid account of Harper's rise to stardom, discussing Harper's shortcomings when appropriate. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and although I read a lot, I buy very few books, but this was well worth the purchase price. Every baseball fan I know will be receiving a copy from me soon. I cannot imagine that anyone who invested the 10 or so dollars for this book would be disappointed in any way.

WARNING! this book was previously named "The Last Natural: Bryce Harper's Big Gamble in Sin City and the Greatest Amateur Season Ever" I purchased this book having read the other thinking it was an update of Bryce Harper's major league career. Instead it is the same book, with 10 extra pages. I think this is wrong to give it a different name and cover and not say it was previously released with a different name.
Wasted my money on the same book!!
