I loved this.
Military horror is one of my favourite genres. From Jonathan Maberry to Greig Beck, the offerings in this genre can be amazingly good.
Age of Blood by Weston Ochse is a sequel. It can easily stand alone, but is best enjoyed when read in order.
SEALs, the pointy end of the US Special Forces, up against the horror that is chupacabra, werewolfs, cultists, and the Mexican cartels.
This book is really, really cool.
Well-paced, with just the right mix of military and horror. A very specific knowledge of Special Forces warfare combined with a perfect narrative voice for this genre means that this book stands miles above most other offerings in the specific genre, as well as above most other horror books.
There had better be a third in this very-cool series. It deserves more. And more. And MORE!

This story is the second detailing the exploits of Seal Team 666 - a (fictionally) long established unit designed to take care of the supernatural stuff nobody else wants to think about. The author, Weston Ochse, is a real-life warrior poet. He has been there, done that, and when he describes tactics, weapons systems, intel briefings, any of it... it has a ring of truth. All of this while still being a great tale of the supernatural. I can't think of another series I have read that melds military and spooky so well.

While the book stands on its own, I recommend that you read the first installment in order to fully appreciate the back story and running themes. I don't like to give too much story away in a review, so I will just say that as with any squad military assignment, the team has to go somewhere, fight bad guys and continue mission regardless of what is thrown at them. And I must say, they do it with style!!

If you like the idea of military fiction mixed with the likes of chupacabras and lycanthropes, I highly recommend this book!!

Another great SEAL Team 666 novel from Weston Ochse. A nicely blended story of supernatural people, places, and things married with the ferocity and smooth operating SEAL team members. It seems that the first in this series will be made into a movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

After reading the first book in the SEAL Team 666 series I was anxious to start the next book: Age of Blood. This SEAL Team takes care of things no one else wants to touch, demons, chupacabras, skinwalkers, and so much more. Weston Ochse brings a reality to the tale that only those experienced can do. Kind of makes you wonder if he has had similar adventures during his many tours.

The characters are unique and entertaining while new members learn from the experienced. They quickly develop a bond that is unique to the military. True teams rarely exist anywhere else. When one member falters it affects everyone. This venture takes them to an underground temple in Mexico City and the Followers of the Flayed One. Just as intriguing as the first book this one leaves the team fighting for their lives and fighting to save the world. Can’t wait for the next book!

If you enjoy Larry Correia, John Ringo, Jonathan Maberry, or E.E. Knight, add Weston Ochse to your list. Writing about military fantasy, you will find Weston Ochse with the top writers in this area. Seal Team 666 started this series and this is a welcome continuation of the series. I look forward to the film as well as new stories. If you have not read Seal Team 666, do yourself a favor and try it. If you liked it, come back to Age of Blood for more.

It's just great, but read the first one before getting into this book.
Once you read the first one, you are just sucked in. The writing in excellent and the plot just keeps slipping away from where you expect it to go. The characters are surprisingly human, rather than genre typical stereotypes.

They end up battling cartel gangsters in Mexico who are trying to save their power by bringing back the old blood-thirsty Aztec gods. Tough no-nonsense heroes facing supernatural evil like it's just another day at the office and getting the job done.
