Becoming as Bold, Gracious, and Wise as the Queen of Sheba

This is a very interesting book about the Queen of Sheba and her visit to Solomon. Liz takes the story straight from the Bible. There is no romance read into it between the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon like many movies and books can portray. Just a few verses from I Kings 10 and there is so much to glean from it.

Liz has 10 chapters and I'm just going to copy her list at the back of her book as an idea of what each chapter is about and what the Queen of Sheba can teach us today:
Be bold and take frequent leaps of faith.
Be open to whatever God has prepared for you.
Seek wise counsel from trustworthy sources
Be humbled, trusting Him to lift you up
Be honest with God, with yourself, with others
Encourage everyone who crosses your path
Praise God in all things and in every season
Give generously, with open hands and heart
Receive graciously, to honor God and the giver
End well by loving well all the days of your life

There is much good advice held in the pages of these books. I don't mind giving if it doesn't cost me too much and I don't mind receiving if I think I deserve it. So, I think I have a lot to learn here. Becoming an encourager is another area I would like to learn to do better in. I want to make the world better for those around me because of the words I say or the way I live.

I really enjoyed this book. It is written in simple language and is easy to understand and the concepts aren't so deep that I can barely grasp it. I will say after the last two books I read this one felt like a breath of fresh air, but maybe it should have stomped on my toes harder than it.Read more ›

How fortunate I was to have a friend share this book with me. It's Good to Be Queen was not exactly what I expected but I was extremely pleasantly surprised. Liz Curtis Higgs has written an excellent book with many thought provoking points for me to ponder. This is good reading. The Queen of Sheba was definitely a woman of character and I am very happy with this book.

The format of this book is perfect to use over and over to work on specific character traits you choose to study and pray about.

Liz uses history, personal experience, the Word, and the experiences of her online girlfriends to help us learn more about ourselves.

It's good to be truthful... and Liz is in this book. The biblical account of this queen is not an erotic romance and I love that Liz sticks to the Truth.

I love reading Liz Curtis Higgs' books and when I was given the opportunity to read her newest book, It's Good To Be Queen I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and see what I was going to learn from her this time. It's Good To Be Queen is about the Queen Of Sheba who traveled to Jerusalem to test the mind and heart of a king. She was on a quest for wisdom and her quest will teach us all a lesson we need to learn. This book changed the way I look at things and the way I ask questions.

Do you want to learn how to seek after truth, encourage others and honor the Lord over all? Then It's Good to Be Queen is the book for you, it will give you all this and more. I follow this author on social media and have a few of her books that I have not read yet. This book was chosen for my book club this month. I am so glad we chose this one! I loved it. Especially her writing style, humor, and the research she poured into it. A great storyteller. Her research is various versions of the Bible, which I enjoy the cross references. As she mentions, there is much written about The Queen of Sheba from assumption. Some not good. I especially like how her research ties back to applying it to my life. There is a Bible study included in the back of the book that I plan to do later. Liz shares areas of failure with honesty and humility. I seem to see my own failures, sins and disobedience from an authentic author rather than one who points the finger, writing from a prideful attitude. Thank you Liz Curtis Higgs for helping me to follow God closer with boldness, Graciousness and Wisdom

Our study group just finished this Bible Study.
We enjoyed it for the most part but there were a few times we thought 'that was a stretch to get that point'.
The online videos that were to go with each week's lesson were hard to listen to because 1) the mic was not always on the
'guest' of the week & 2) you never see the guest's face. We elected to do the study without watching the weekly video teachings.

It is good to be bold and to be courageous for Christ and to follow the examples that are set out in Scripture for our life journey. This
10 week study touches on just a few ways we can learn from those who have gone before.
