This had some very good crossover moments in it and we finally get a little bit of absolution that has been sitting in comic Limbo since Jason Todd was murdered by a guy with a dialing program on an ancient Trash -80 ( I have no idea if that story is true but it cracked me up when I heard it).

Reprints Red Hood and the Outlaws #0, 15-18, Teen Titans #16, and Batman #17. If you have Teen Titans, Vol. 3: Death of the Family, three of these issues are in that volume as well. So far this has been my personal favorite of The New 52. I'm really enjoying finding out more about the three in this book; although this volume focuses mostly on Jason Todd.

Red Hood and the Outlaws sounds like a power trio from the 80s but it turns out that ex-Robin Jason Todd has teamed up with a Green Arrow clone wearing red and a former "slave princess" with freaky hair. This being crossover madness season, we are treated to yet another Death of the Family story, complete with Teen Titan angst. Considering that nearly every superhero in the DC universe has a crack at the unsuperpowered Joker, it seems a bit farfetched that the Joker is able to thwart them all for so long. The Joker and the Batman have always been pretty evenly matched so what's the point of dragging the Teen Titans into this mess of a story? The Outlaws, by the way, contribute basically zilch.

Since this story drags along in multiple issues of multiple titles, it tends to be slow-moving, with a lot of backflashes to tear-jerky moments of the various characters' troubled lives. Eventually we read the same story that is covered in all the other Death of the Family books. Is watching the same scene over and over from a variety of perspectives good comic book literature? In concept, it could be. In execution, it mostly isn't. I liked a couple of the versions, but this one is predictable and lifeless.

Dialog is pretty bad. Apart from the wisecracks that aren't funny, phrases like "growing up in this toilet of terror" are far from inspirational. For all of that, I actually liked the ending. Something finally happens, something more substantive than a bunch of self-pitying kids (and a self-pitying Batman) whining at each other.

One of the surprisingly best titles to come out of the new 52 initiative by DC comics. Jason Todd has become one of my favorite characters and Starfire and Arsenal add a lot of flavor. Don't read this for the Joker story, read it for Jason's.

This has to be one of my favorite point of views when it comes to The Death Of The Family issues. The mind of Jason in the book is incredible. The small scenes with certain characters made the New 52 series hit this straight on. Gotham is even better than I've imagined. This is the point of view I've actually been wanting to read and it is perfect. New 52 shaped Jason really well.

The Red Hood is back in one of the most climatic stories I've ever read. For those of you who don't know much about him, his name is Jason Todd and he used to be Robin. That is until the Joker beat him to death with a crowbar. Now, he has come back as the Red Hood to kill the Joker. In this book, he encounters the Joker , which brings major shock and war all by itself.
The book is very shocking. I found myself smiling and shocked as I read the words over again or double check something. The Joker's clever scare tactics work well within the book as the Red Hood (with guest appearance by the Teen Titans) takes on the Joker and tries to fight his tricks.
This book is incredible. Like, fantastic. I never wanted the story to end and I couldn't believe the ending. A must buy for anyone, even if you haven't read the first two volumes.

Collects issues 0, 15-18, Teen Titans issue 16 and Batman issue 17.

The Joker has come back to Gotham and Jason Todd, a.k.a Red Hood, cannot help but go back as they have a history, one in which runs deeper than Todd realizes.

This volume kicks off with the series 0 issue giving us Jason Todd's New 52 origin. We get his hard luck story of being from crime alley with some nice additions and a more bleeding heart (Leslie Thompkins) lead to being under Bruce's care and eventually the Batman's. Todd's mother and father are suspect characters and are the cause for Todd to have a troubled childhood. The big twist is the Joker telling us (he really does fourth wall breaking yeah!) he had a hand in creating this Robin. A very interesting origin to separate Jason from the other Robin's.

Issue 15 leads off from circumstances that happened in issue 14 of the previous volume. Todd has a dead body, with the G.C.P.D. at the apartment, and the Joker announcing himself. Todd runs while his teammates, Arsenal and Starfire, are on the lookout for him and make their way to Gotham. Issue 16 is part of a crossover with Teen Titans that follows with it's issue 16. Lobdell is the writer of both series so their is some cohesion. To make things short and sweet, Joker has Todd and Drake, a.k.a. Red Robin, and their respective teams, the Outlaws and the Titans bump into each other in order to find their missing leaders. Oh, and they also have a bunch of rabid homeless people infected with Joker venom to deal with. The Joker plays a game with Todd and Drake, trying to pit them against each other due to their respective father's legacies and because of the fact that they are team players, at least on their own terms outside the bat-family.
