We have had so much fun introducing our now 13-month old daughter to board books over the past year, and Gyo Fujikawa has become one of our favorites. Her simple, sweet (circa 1970s) drawings bring us back to our own childhoods, but speak to our daughter just as easily. This book is about kids being kids-- playing on the slide, the swings, with doggies, climbing trees, playing follow the leader. Reading it at bedtime is like a sweet hug at the end of a long day of play-- and it closes reminding us all that at night, we all need some time to be alone and relax, and reflect on the day, before going to bed. My daughter loves reading, and has a great attention span, but some board books (even several of the "classics") can bore her, given her young age, and when that happens, she will start turning the pages. She never does so with the Fujikawa books; she loves them.

This was one of my daughter's favorite books. All of his illustrations and books are tops and I can't recommend them enough. We read this one over and over from the time she was about six months to over two years old.

I love, love, love this book! I own a good majority of Gwo Fujikawa books, and this is one of my family's favorites! It's a simple story for young children, with adorable illustrations. My kids have always liked to go through the pictures and point out which child is themselves. "That one is me!" They will say. I think children really connect with these books.

This is a really sweet book about kids playing. I really like the art...it's very whimsical and cute. My kids (4 and 1.5) love looking at the pictures and having me read it over and over again. This artist/author wrote several books and they are also good quality like this one.
