NYPD Police Officer Rafe Mancuso saves his former partner Sara Rios from an assault and has become a city hero. However, he soon learns the down size of "celebrity" status when the Bachelor Blog names him an eligible hunk.

As he heals and tries to stay out of the limelight of the almost famous, Rafe retreats to his lakefront cabin. His vanishing turns the Bachelor Bog's attention on the damsel in distress he rescued, Sara. Like her ex-partner, she needs to avoid the limelight as she is to testify in court against a killer who wants her dead. Sara retreats to Rafe's cabin where the attraction that ended their partnership ignites while someone exposes her hideaway.

The latest Most Eligible Bachelor Blog contemporary romance (see Kiss Me If You Can) is a delightful police procedural romantic suspense. The lead male knows who he wants and does not disguise his feelings; his target Sara shares his intense love. However, surviving the attacks on her comes before they can dare to fully embrace their love. This is a strong contemporary romance.

Love Me If you Dare is a story about what can happen if friends finally let down their guards and explore being more than just friends. Rafe and Sara were partners working for the NYPD. They always had chemistry on the job; but they also have chemistry outside the work hours. Chemistry that neither one of them wanted to give into until Sara had to go into hiding and ask for Rafe's help and protection.

Sara does not believe in happily-ever-afters and her refusal to even consider that she can have her own HEA with Rafe is prevalent throughout the book. In the beginning, I understood why she felt the way she did. She came from a family of cops who were all divorced. Her own mother walked out on the family. Her father was never in a long-term relationship after his wife left. Throughout the book, Rafe proved to her over and over that he wanted to be more than friends with benefits. Even though Sara had strong feelings for Rafe and knew that those feelings were being reciprocated, she didn't trust in his feelings for her. She trusted Rafe with her life but not with her heart.

Like in Kiss Me If You Can, an older relative is causing mischief for Rafe. The situation with Rafe's Uncle Pirro and his Viagra side business was hilarious. There was a secondary story involving Rafe's brother, Nick and his wife Angel, who are fighting for their marriage after a devastating loss.

Flutter Factor:
No one can resist a guy who is a protector. The chemistry between Rafe and Sara permeated throughout the book. Even with them both recovering from injuries, they managed to work their way around it so that they could get it on. I love that Love Me If You Dare has strong male characters who are devoted to their women and families. Carly Phillips combines romance, sex, humor and adventure into a great and delightful read.

I got this book from the library (actually the audio tape version) and paid nothing - still I felt let down. As I was reading the earlier reviews, I'm wondering, WHERE is the chemistry everybody is talking about? The characters are so cardboard and two-dimensional, I didn't care about any of them. There was no sense of urgency in the book and finally - what happened to SHOW don't TELL. There was so much author intrusion in the book I felt locked out. There was no way for the reader to experience the action - which I guess is okay, since there was none. The dialogue was too cheesy. I could barely get through the first chapter. I turned the CD off three times before the first tape was done.

I'll give this author one more try, hopefully, this is just one story that was not good.

There are a few editing issues with this book. Typos or problems switching to the Kindle format? There are also a few words left out. Those will slow you down but a quick re-read will make the meaning clear. I'm inclined to think it has something to do with the Kindle format. I've read lots of C. Phillips' in print books and never noticed problems.
This story is a good one. The characters are flawed like real people and they grow to overcome the flaws. There's romance, mystery, drama and a bit of humor with Aunt Vi and her husband.
Overall, it is worth your time to read this one.

OMG this book was absolutely amazing. I had absolutely loved this book. I had also enjoyed reading this book. I could not put it down until the end. This book was a page turning romance. I had checked out this book from the library. I would highly recommend this book.

I really hoped that this installment in the Most Eligible Bachelor series would have at least met the entertainment value the prior book, Kiss Me if You Can, but sadly... it did not. What I felt was a cute series quickly became quite creepy and invasive. REALLY??? Did the Bachelor Blogger really need to harass not just the hero, but the heroine in this book? Beyond the step up to creepy stalker like journalism, I just did not feel much for the characters. Having a commitment-driven alpha male trying to convince a commitment fearing woman that they actually have something worthwhile was such a painful stretch of imagination that I struggled through the book. Having finally finished it, I did not see anything remotely engaging for the reader to grasp upon. The Viagra-dealing Uncle and the Nymphomaniac Aunt were a little hard to swallow. Heck, the whole story was just a fluff piece that really lacked a leg to stand on and it made me feel as if the author was not feeling that this story was strong enough to be focused on. The secondary story of Rafe's brother, Nick, and his wife, Angel, barely made sense, but was showcased as something.

The little mention of the previous characters, Coop and Lexie, were even lackluster....

While I have enjoyed other books from Ms. Phillips, I felt she missed the mark in her writing style and this book fell painfully short. I did give this book a rating of 2-1/2 stars because while I had a hard time reading this book with full interest... I had to give her credit for at least trying. Sadly, her editor never offered her the right guidance to make this book better and let this story fall completely apart. Not something worthwhile reading again and not exactly something I would suggest to a friend. Sorry Ms. Phillips and her rabid fans.... this book was not that great, but I believe that she is capable of doing better in the future.
