I recently ran into my high school band teacher while I was at work. He asked if I was still playing the saxophone, and I told him I was not. This led to a stern lecture about how I should still be playing. I took it to heart and used it as an excuse to buy another saxophone and all the equipment.

My biggest fear in jumping back in was whether or not I would remember how to read music after nearly 16 years. I ordered this book because it had a lot of songs that I liked, and it was designed for the alto saxophone which meant I didn't have to do any transposing.

When I first got the book, I threw it on the stand and opened to the page with "Beyond the Sea" on it. To my delight, I was instantly playing the song, and reading the music.

I have now played a good collection of songs in the book, and I'm pleased with everything in it. The book is great, and contains a selection of songs that should keep any music lover playing things they love for a good long time.

For a first book when getting back into the swing of things, I don't think there could be a much better option.

These arrangements appear to be targeted to beginning to intermediate players. Without any kind of accompaniment it can be pretty hard to listen to, but familiar fun tunes make a good place to practice fingerings and if you find a song or two you like you can try to jazz it up a little.

Liking this book as a beginner because it's proving a challenge. There are plenty of songs I know so it makes it easy to know if I'm playing them correctly. The songs range all styles and tempos so it gives me plenty to choose from. Only been playing for a few months so still choosing slower tempos.

This book has a wide variety of songs, you can go from playing an old rock song to playing your favorite movie theme in a matter of minutes. Most of the charts in the book were easy; if you can hit a high F you should be able to play all them. But even though the songs are easy, they are still really fun to play. I'd recommend this book to any trombonist looking for a cheap way to play a lot of great tunes.
