I've known John for eight years and I remain amazed at his story, how he has transformed from a life focused on evil to a life spent helping others. His life is not only a cautionary tale but also an inspirational story about how one man can make a huge difference in the lives of many!

I have known John for the past two years and was honored to read his biography. His life is a testament to God's redeeming love and the fact that no one is hopeless to our Savior. "Bloodline" is gritty and does not soften the abuse he suffered as a child, the ripple effect of bad choices he made as a young man or the catastrophe of accepting hatred and violence as personal values. This book should encourage every person to serve in their community with new compassion. John Turnipseed has not only become a new person, he has had an incredible impact on the community he has worked in for that past 20 years, leading hundreds to a life-changing knowledge of Christ as well. What an incredible story of hope! A powerful witness to Christ's power today.

I was blessed to meet John in May of 2014. I've worked personally with him transforming some of our most lost kids struggling to survive in fatherless homes where gang culture has given many of them a path to hopelessness and death. His story is as amazing as he is a person. I'm reading the book again with my 13 year old son. John's story can be used as a framework for any famliy in America showing the importance of a strong father figure for our children. Thank you Mr Turnipseed for this powerful testimony of transformation! Thank you for showing us that second chances are possible for anyone who steps out of the darkness of hell into the healing light of the Grace of God.

I heard Mr. Turnipseed's interview on the radio this morning and his story is so intriguing that I immediately went home and Googled his name. I immediately bought the Kindle Edition and couldn't put the book down! He shares his story with detail and heart - a great read for all Americans and Christians!

I picked up this book after watching a Glenn Beck interview of John Turnipseed. After hearing the man speak, I truly wanted to learn more about his life and how he overcame incredible odds. It was far beyond what my sheltered life could comprehend, and good to read if we want to understand better how difficult it is to turn around neighborhoods when generations have opted for a life of crime. The book is very direct in its style and is a narrative that includes multiple failures as John tries to turn his life around--but that's what makes it real and believable.

John Turnipseed's BLOODLINE takes the reader on a dark journey where eventually, real redemption is found. Raw and to the point, this book does not attempt to paint a pretty picture- it puts harsh realities on wretched display. It's an easy read in the sense that John includes endless stories from his life (which keep the pages turning rapidly), but it's not so easy to stomach. I am so inspired by John Turnipseed's story and the work Urban Ventures is doing in Minneapolis. Highly recommended read, especially for those in social work, nonprofit, church, urban ministry, mentoring, etc.

John Turnipseed, born in Alabama, follows his father to Minneapolis to find that his father is a criminal, a drug user and dealer who abuses John's mother and who has no time for John. Not surprisingly, John turns to using and selling drugs and to burglary and theft to fund his habit. Amazingly, John is saved by several Christian mentors and becomes a Christian leader himself.. An amazing story of pain, hope and redemption.
