Barron's AP Art History, 3rd Edition This book covers every aspect of the AP Art History Course redesign. If you teach AP Art History you know that NO COLLEGE LEVEL TEXTBOOK includes information on each image in the new AP 250, this book does. Not only does John Nici break down each image into manageable chunks but gives a crash course in each content area. This book is an invaluable resource to both the instructor and the student.

As an AP Art History teacher, I found the text packed with great information, but it was poorly organized, some of the practice tests had incorrect answers, and the chapters are confusing for students because it overlaps or mixes content areas for the image set provided by college board. It would be more successful if the text was clearly aligned with the content areas assigned from the college board, provided colored images (rather than black & white), also if it provided practice long essays (rather than just short essays), and organized information for each image (ex. Historical significance, context, function, symbolism, etc)

Okay. So not perfect, but a HUGE help in charting and navigating a course through the new choppy seas of the revised AP AH curriculum. Every little bit helps us get our sea legs. Glad I bought it. Definitely, check the work and the answers, but better than the alternatives...oh wait, there really Aren't many alternatives at this point.

Awesome Text. Really provides extensive insight into the works. As of now (waiting on the Oct. 2015 Crash Course REA), this is the only literature for the new "250" curriculum, and it really provided an in-depth analysis of the works. No other text include all 250. Also the example responses are more realistic for students than some other (older) APAH texts, that provide examples of PHD level art historian depth.

This text is a huge help in preparing for the AP Art History exam. The main points of each piece are noted and the comparative pieces are noted where applicable. Historical information is included for every content area and every piece is pictured. The CD-Rom is helpful too. My only criticism is that the book is printed on flimsy paper. Since this book is used to prepare for an exam it would be nice if the paper was a bit more sturdy and able to stand up to repeated use. The content is very good and offers the student every thing that they will need to score highly on the exam.

They go through each of the 250 Master List Items. I would also buy the REA Crash Course as well. They only cover the surface of the information, but the Crash Course book goes into the amount of detail needed for the new AP test. Some pieces are incorrect ( I found one in the Africa Section), so when doing a chapter, I recommend that you look at the official pictures from the college board. Good study tool, however, you need more info on each piece than what is given in the Barron's book.

This book has been invaluable for my students who are presently negotiating the new curriculum in the AP art history course. It's well organized and provides a thorough overview in what can be an overwhelming course. Although this is a new edition, my students from last year claimed that it "dialed them in" to the AP test.

Within the first two chapters found errors in practice exercises in Ancient New Eastern Art . There were three wrong answers on the Answer key and Answers explained. Maybe they were in hurry to get a redesign book out.
