When it comes to coin cleaning:
Rule # 1: Don't !
Rule # 2: Don't ! !
Rule # 3: If you must clean a coin, seek professional advice first. Sometimes not cleaning a coin is more harmful than properly cleaning it. For example, if a coin has been in contact with PVC for a while, the coin will acquire a sticky residue that, over time, will "eat" into the coin and cause irreversible, permanent damage that will reduce the coin's value and ruin its appearance. This book will provide the professional advice and instructions you need.
You want to remove residue, dirt and grime, but not patina, lovely toning or surface material. This book provides charts to help you determine if it is safe (and wise) to clean your coins in various circumstances. It then provides understandable instructions when cleaning is necessary and desirable. More importantly, the book will tell you when cleaning a coin will be detrimental/harmful. For example, copper coins should almost never be cleaned and non-wartime nickels are the hardiest, most resilient, most cleanable coins.
Common sense doesn't always work for uncommon cents. This book will definitely tell you right from wrong, but the final decision is yours. To clean or not to clean, having this book will help you decide; it is a great asset for any coin collector's library.

This was a great read. That I would recommend reading.
Quite alot of knowledge in a handy book for the person thinking of cleaning coins. A must read for not only someone starting the hobby but the more advanced collector that is just getting into coin conservation.

Pros: Value is tops for this very inexpensive book for beginner to mid level numasmatist.
Cons: Too short. Needs a companion or second volume. The book leaves you wanting more.

Nice guy writing book,wants to help but the information is all simple common sense, no detail, little revealing information. Things anyone who is collecting anything would know. The internet is a source of information...duh. Short of information and pages.
