The author has a good knowledge of the 106th "Fighting Lions" Infantry Division and the "Red Leg" soldiers of the Field Artillery units within it. It's a novel with a credible story line regarding a green units initiation to battle. Information about this one division's experience during the Battle of the Bulge and details about specific regiments, battalions, commanders, towns, weather and time line are all historically accurate. Fans of WWII will enjoy this very personal perspective of fighting and surviving the Battle of the Bulge. The map on the first page is a useful tool for following the troop movements through geographically unfamiliar towns and villages.

The Battle of the Bulge is known to most of us by the WW II movies based upon it, black and white and stero typical. The Lion's Path is a different side of all of this, other area's are shown that were involved, other group's and unit's as well. This is a very good book with a lot of action throughout it, nothing is made to be pretty or clever. The cold, hunger and fear suffered by the solider's is very well conveyed, it's worth reading.

Good book,but should have some pictures and maps. Difficult to where the battle's were there.All the towns are/there were very small,and hard to find them on "now" maps.
