This book has left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it has a wealth of empirical information of high quality, namely, the analysis of multiple novels, movies and TV shows; on the other, Kirby's main argument about the advent of the new era of digimodernism, is quite fuzzy and contradictory, as he himself admits in the last chapter. Luckily, the aforementioned empirical research and the very fine writing style justify buying the book.

This book is well worth the read and offers keen insight into contemporary culture. Of course it is in part conjecture, and as the author himself it is a thesis that will only be proved in retrospect, but for those who wish to imagine what the future might hold, this is a well sourced resource.
