Product Description

On December 21, 2012, the Aztec Long Count ends. A great galactic alignment occurs. Is it the end times or a new beginning? Prophecy or myth, how can you know? Is looking back in history to one of the great prophets or sages the answer? Alternatively, do the answers reveal themselves by looking inward, here and now? Inside are 2,012 questions. They are simple, odd, evocative, and provocative. Your quest is to answer them and see what arises in yourself. You are about to go on a pilgrimage of self-discovery. Who is your guide? Bob Dylan. Contemporary singer-songwriter, visionary poet, lyrical bard, verbal rebel, social critic, iconoclast, recorder of the heart, stimulator of the mind, seer of the soul, Bob Dylan's penetrating songs are the gateway for this journey. Using Dylan's lyrics, the author Giovanni Fabiani, charts a path and provides the key for your self-discovery. Is it End Times or a New Beginning?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Surprise and Delight, July 16, 2009
By K. Summer (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
2012 was recommended to me and I have to admit, at first I could not understand why. I am not interested in the apocalypse or myths surrounding the year 2012, so why would a friend recommend this?

First of all the 2012 Questions in the title is literally true. There are 2,012 questions in this book, all derived from Bob Dylan's lyrics. I am a Dylan fan. That is the first connection. I am also a practicing Buddhist and I came to understand what the author was referring to in the prologue. You must watch and see what reactions you have as you read along.

That's another great thing about this book: it's not a novel or a treatise. You can pick it up at any point and go from there. Despite it's heavy sounding title, this book is fun. My partner and I challenge each other with questions and sometimes do a Jeopardy reversal and try to formulate the question based on the answers in the back.

I now know why this book was recommended to me: it's challenging and fun and unconventional. A lot like me! I recommend this book to every baby-boomer who feels the same way.

4.0 out of 5 stars What's up with this?, July 28, 2009
By Scorpiette (New England) - See all my reviews
I can't make heads or tails of this book, but then again, I kinda think that might be the idea. Giovanni clearly relishes the realm of enigma, but with a farcical wink...a little like the "cosmic giggle" folks maybe (not talking about a band here).

The book is overly simplistic at one level. I certainly can't call it literary; it's not spiritual in any sense that I can easily recognize (at least not without a little electric kool-aid); any post-apocalyptic nuances escape me; and there are moments when I wonder if it represents anything more than a somewhat pretentious paean to Mr. Dylan (admittedly one of the century's most astounding poets and musicians). Still, there's something a bit intriguing here. And the questions are fun just at the quiz show level - a Dylan lover's must-have.

So I'm confused. Can someone enlighten me please? Is Bob himself behind this...having a good chuckle? Perhaps Ginsberg's drunken ghost? Or maybe aliens? And what's it all about anyway, baby blue?
