A cute little boy named Zack moves from Earth to a planet called Nebulon. Nothing is the same as Zack's home planet. The sky, land, and water are different colors than on Earth, the cars fly, and the Nebulites speak very differently. Zack is nervous to move and he thinks no one will like him at school. He has to get used to everything on Nebulon. Hello Nebulon is an early chapter book with lots of awesome pictures (on every page) and words that are easy to read. Boys and girls will both like this book. Ages 6-8 would love to read it on their own but younger kids would love having it read to them because they'd like the story and pictures.

My favorite parts are the cool gadgets like the little box that turns into a car when you push a button, Zack's bed that comes down from the ceiling at night, and the elevator in his house that goes in every direction. There's even an Indoor Robotic Assistant (IRA) that is wired throughout the house and does almost everything for Zack and his family. The whole book is my favorite part! The writing and story are both incredibly awesome. Zack is so lovable and that makes the book even more enjoyable. I give this book one hundred stars! I wish I could visit Nebulon.

We won Hello Nebulon in a contest last summer. I had never heard of the book series before, but my "hates to read" 7 year old seemed interested in it right away. He started reading it and could NOT put it down. We'd tried everything for him- magic treehouse, A-z mysteries, etc- he just couldn't get into them. After he flew through this book, he went and purchased the second book in the series with his own money. He has since read every book in the series and cannot wait for the next one to come out. He's even loaned the books to his friends, who share his lack of excitement for reading and they also LOVED them. Awesome series!

I'm a university librarian and attend the American Library Association conference every year. This summer I picked up Hello, Nebulon for my 5 year old son. He loves it. He likes to pretend he's the main character and asks us to call him Zack. He pretends to speak to Ira, the in-home computer system. We're getting the entire set. Note, he can't read it to himself, we read it to him. Another way to keep him excited about books until he learns to read to himself.

My seven year old and four year old both love Galaxy Zack. The stories are fun and engaging with great morals. Ray O'Ryan does a great job of making Nebulon an interesting place with its own culture and fun technology that young children will think is super grape!

There are illustrations on every page and the vocabulary is simple enough for young readers, but don't mistake this for a dumb kids story. The books are well-written and so fun to read. And best of all, they won't make adults want to pluck their eyes out, as children's chapter books often do.

This book is a great start to a series that your children will definitely want to keep reading. I'd recommend buying the boxed set of the first four. You'll save a bit of money, because I guarantee you will be buying the whole set of these books.

I was looking for a chapter book that would entertain my 4.5 year old (i.e. has lots of pictures/illustrations and engaging age-appropriate story) that was NOT Captain Underpants. Galaxy Zack fits that bill nicely. The illustrations (on almost every page) give her something to look at while going from chapter to chapter. The writing is a step above general picture books which challenges her to grow in her reading comprehension skills (even if I'm the one doing the reading.) The theme (of moving and making new friends) is easy to relate to for any kid. Overall this is a good book to fill the gap between Llama Llama and Ramona books.

There is an illustration nearly every turn of the page so this helps children transition from picture books to those with just text.

My child found the story interesting and was keen to read the other books in the series.

My 8 year old son dislikes to read. However after reading chapter 1 with me. He would ask daily "can I read Galaxy Zack to you"?This is music to a parents ears. Since the completion of this book he is eagerly awaiting for the next book to become available. We're getting the whole series if means my son finally enjoys reading-no questions!!

Thank you Ray O'Ryan and Colin Jack! My 2nd grade very reluctant reader LOVES this book. I actually had to ask him to put down his book and eat his breakfast this morning. Great illustrations, nice spacing between the lines. It's not visually overwhelming with too many words, but it is a chapter book - he feels very successful in reading this. Finally a "just right" book that he really enjoys!
