Why did the publisher change the dimensions to a bulky treasury book? I have the 29 scrapbooks and now this big, awkward thing that won't fit with the others on the shelf. It isn't as comfortable to flip through either. Too bad. Maybe they'll still release the traditional size?

BEDLAM is the 30th “Baby Blues” comic collection. It follows the daily lives of the humorous, but relatable MacPhersons clan: Dad Darryl, Mom Wanda, oldest daughter Zoe age 10, son Hammie age 7, and baby daughter Wren age 1. The strips in BEDLAM ran in newspapers from Dec. 4, 2011- Dec. 29, 2012. The book is full of typical “Baby Blues” humor: Wanda being overworked, Zoe complaining about fashion, Darryl trying to balance being the breadwinner while being a supportive husband and father. Unlike other collections of “Baby Blues”, there really aren’t very many longer story arcs in the strip. There is about a week’s worth of strips where Wanda starts a blog and there’s another small collection of strips where Zoe borrows a jewel gun and goes nuts putting jewels on everything. Also, there seems to be a lot more strips that focus on Hammie and the adventures he gets into. The collection here is a good collection of “Baby Blues” strips.

However, there are a few flaws about the way that BEDLAM is published. I’m not sure why, but unlike the previous 29 collections, BEDLAM is almost twice the physical size of the previous 29 collections: instead of being an almost square of 9” X 8.5”, BEDLAM is 11” x 8.5”. There are many different comics that are published this way (for instance, several of the “Calvin and Hobbes” collections were published this way and most of the collections of “Zits” are published this way). However, if you have collected the previous 29 collections, BEDLAM doesn’t fit with them. Also, I’m not sure why, but there are a handful of Sunday strips in the book that are published over two pages. The illustrations are bigger, but some of the dialogue gets lost in the book binding, making them difficult to read. Therefore, even though the content is just as good, the format of BEDLAM makes it a level below the other books in the “Baby Blues” series.

I've been enjoying these stories since the very beginning, when I didn't have a clue what it is to be a parent. My family has grown as well and every time I read the books can't help but laugh and also remember how it was to be so carefree.
I love the stories, but I don't know why the publisher or whoever is in charge of the presentation of the book decided to change the size after 29 books!!!! Really? Now it is as big as my bookshelf and looks kind of weird next to the other 29!!! Shouldn't the readers have a say when it comes to these changes???? Well, we should!!!
Anyway, if you don't mind the change of sizes, go ahead and buy it. Wanda and the crew will make you laugh out loud!!

Baby Blues is my favorite comic and I am always waiting for the new treasury to come out. I really enjoyed this one and I read them over and over again. It is such a family friendly comic strip and always good clean fun. I always enjoy the end of the year when all the new treasuries come out and I can pick up my favorites for the year.

Our family absolutely loves Baby Blues. We actually credit our childrens' (3 of them) love for reading to comic books, specifically Baby Blues, Calvin & Hobbes, Foxtrot and Sheldon. Nothing has motivated kids to learn to read than these great comics, which then later has translated to various youth series.

Bedlam is another in the quality Baby Blues offerings that has been well loved and reread many times by kids and adults alike.

this is another sketch book of baby blues :) If you like the past ones this one is even better!

my only compliant is that the publisher did not bind the book right, several of the full page spreads got bound in the center binding and are unreadable. But this only is an issue two or three times in the book.

I always look forward to the latest escapades of Zoe, Hammie, Wanda and Darryl, but it's better than ever now that it's in Kindle format. The pictures seem clearer and sharper, and it's easy to take Baby Blues wherever you go. I hope the publisher will continue to produce this wonderful family in Kindle format!

This collection is the funniest one yet, in my opinion. My 11-year-old daughter asked for this for Christmas (all my kids love Baby Blues), and tonight was my first chance to read it. I consumed it all in one sitting (several hours) and laughed so hard, so often, she came out to check and see if I was alright, as I woke her up with my strange noises. :) If you are a parent, GET THIS BOOK!
