This book is an absolute must-have for every pet guardian! Dr. Palmquist deciphers the physical and spiritual map of our pets so that as a pet owner, we can understand how to provide the best care for our pet, while also understanding what we can do to help jump start our pets' own healing mechanisms.

This book covers the basics of how our pets' bodies work, nutrition, the causes of disease, and it also touches on acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy, flower essences, chiropractic, craniosacral, essential oil therapy and so much more. Even though this book speaks on such holistic modalities, this is not a woo-woo airy-fairy book. This is an artful, yet practical guide of how one can use these modalities to provide the opening for True healing for our pets. Dr. Palmquist's writing style makes for a book that is easy to read and understand. His warmth and sincerity resonate on every page.

With so much information out there, I was so happy to finally find one book that addressed so many methods of healing, as well as, why our pets get sick to begin with. I personally got so much from Dr. Palmquist's approach with muscle testing, his view on pet nutrition and the raw diet, and the numerous case studies that were heart-warming to read. I no longer feel overwhelmed by all the information out there and what to believe. After reading this book, I feel so hopeful and secure in my role and what I can do to help my pets live their best lives.

I am close to finishing this book and must say it is a great read if you love your pet and want to help them live a longer life. It puts science and holistic health in plain English for you so you don't have to decipher the meaning behind each chapter. Thus far my dog has greatly improved in health now that I better understand her constitution and am feeding and exercising her accordingly. It can be difficult to easily recognize your dog's personality in all areas of its life and this book has made it easier while feeling as though there is no risk involved in an initial misdiagnosis. I'm enjoying the read and my 9 year old lab is thanking me for the small changes I've already made as a result!

"Seek truth and healing follows." Dr. Palmquist has written a powerful book with a gentle approach and a readable manner. What a gift this book is to dog and cat parents! Within these pages, readers will find a way of looking at veterinary care that is less harsh, less invasive, and yet, in my opinion, more effective than traditional paths alone. I know this from firsthand experience as Dr. Palmquist has skillfully cared for my own dogs, both of whom have been using nutritional supplements. One of my dogs has required numerous supplements for years as she has had many serious health issues.

What I like best about Dr. Palmquist's approach is his integration of the best of traditional medicine - using traditional methods when necessary - with the best of alternative medicine. This book succeeds with its clear explanations and logical conclusions, helping the reader understand the reasoning behind Dr. Palmquist's mindset. Case examples then illustrate the concepts.

Although not every problem can be overcome, this book offers hope. It is a thorough, comprehensive, yet personable book reflective of Dr. Palmquist's depth of wisdom and caring, gentle heart.

I was not looking for a scientific text on animal pathology, I wanted to see how alternative and complementary treatments were used to address patients without voice. This is indeed "humanistic" veterinary and as a therapist I would suggest that all clinicians can learn a thing or 2 from this book. It is a very easy read. It does not stand in opposition to science and is based on established data, tradition and proven practice (case studies provided). This presents and impressive new way to view your pet as a miraculous creation that can be empowered to heal in a variety of ways (nutrition not being the least of these). I recommend it, not simply because it is different, but it is refreshing to see a holistic approach that endorses a communication and understanding you might not have thought possible. Nice work.

Underneath the RIDICULOUS fru-fru cover is an incredibly informative and well-written veterinary reference. This is the owner's manual your pet should have come with.

Dr. Palmquist gives some of the most succinct, easy to understand explanations of health and disease that I have ever read (or heard). Things like: what causes cancer, why preservatives are bad, how stem cells work. He stresses the holistic health approach, not just the traditional reactionary medicine that treats symptoms without finding the cause. Some of the concepts like Muscle Response Testing and scar mitigation are completely new to me, but I don't think anything is loony or far-fetched. (Seriously guys - get another cover)
